In vitro and in vivo efficacy of aqueous extract of Caryocar brasiliense Camb. to control gastrointestinal nematodes in sheep

Parasitology Research, 2012
A major problem faced in sheep rearing has been the rapid acquisition of anthelminthic-resistant populations of gastrointestinal nematodes. In the search for alternatives, aqueous extract of the peel of Caryocar brasiliense was evaluated for larval development inhibition, egg-hatching inhibition, and fecal nematode egg count reduction in sheep.

Chemopreventive effects of pequi oil (Caryocar brasiliense Camb.) on preneoplastic lesions in a mouse model of hepatocarcinogenesis

European Journal of Cancer Prevention, 2016
Pequi (Caryocar brasiliense Camb.), a fruit from Brazil’s central region, was evaluated for its chemopreventive effects on preneoplastic liver lesions induced by the carcinogen diethylnitrosamine (DEN) in mice. BALB/c mice, 14 days of age, received an intraperitoneal injection at 10 µg/g of DEN.

PHENOTYPIC VARIABILITY OF THE FRUIT IN A NATURAL POPULATION OF Caryocar brasiliense CAMB AS A CONSERVATION STRATEGY

This study aimed to estimate the phenotypic variation between genotypes of C. brasiliense through morphological descriptors of the fruit. In a natural population were sampled 47 genotypes, based on 17 physical parameters related to fruit and seed. The data (average of 20 fruits) were analyzed using multivariate methods (cluster analysis according to ...
