Impact of L-carnitine and selenium treatment on testicular apoptosis in rats exposed to 2.45 GHz microwave energy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Objective: It has been suggested that electromagnetic radiation (EMR) by wireless devices (2.45 GHz) induces testicular apoptosis. We investigated if supplemental selenium (Se) and L-carnitine may reduce this adverse effect.

Apoptotic Volume Decrease (AVD) Is Independent of Mitochondrial Dysfunction and Initiator Caspase Activation

open access: yesCells, 2012
Persistent cell shrinkage is a major hallmark of apoptotic cell death. The early-phase shrinkage, which starts within 30−120 min after apoptotic stimulation and is called apoptotic volume decrease (AVD), is known to be accomplished by activation of K ...

A non-apoptotic role for caspase-9 in muscle differentiation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Caspases, a family of cysteine proteases most often investigated for their roles in apoptosis, have also been demonstrated to have functions that are vital for the efficient execution of cell differentiation.

Caspase-3, Shears for Synapse Pruning [PDF]

open access: yesDevelopmental Cell, 2014
Motor neurons regulate neuromuscular junction formation by using agrin to stimulate acetylcholine receptor clustering and using acetylcholine to disperse unnecessary receptor clusters on muscle fibers. Wang et al. (2014) now report in this issue of Developmental Cell a critical role for caspase-3 in intracellular mechanisms of acetylcholine-induced ...

Gasdermin pores permeabilize mitochondria to augment caspase-3 activation during apoptosis and inflammasome activation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Gasdermin E (GSDME/DFNA5) cleavage by caspase-3 liberates the GSDME-N domain, which mediates pyroptosis by forming pores in the plasma membrane.

Cleaved Caspase-3 Sebagai Uji Apoptosis Pada Kanker Serviks IIB Tipe Sel Skuamosa Yang Mendapat Kemoterapi Neoadjuvan Cisplatin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015

Bacterial secreted effectors and caspase‐3 interactions [PDF]

open access: yesCellular Microbiology, 2014
Apoptosis is a critical process that intrinsically links organism survival to its ability to induce controlled death. Thus, functional apoptosis allows organisms to remove perceived threats to their survival by targeting those cells that it determines pose a direct risk.

Characterization of Canine Caspase-3

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Medical Science, 2004
The canine caspase-3 gene was cloned and sequenced. The canine caspase-3 cDNA clone was 1473 base pairs in length and encoded 277 amino acids. The predicted amino acid sequence showed 88.4%, 88.0%, 85.9%, 65.9% and 60.6% homology with that of human, pig, mouse, chicken and zebra fish caspase-3, respectively.

Total extract of Abelmoschus manihot L. alleviates uric acid-induced renal tubular epithelial injury via inhibition of caspase-8/caspase-3/NLRP3/GSDME signaling

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2022
Purpose: The incidence of uric acid (UA)-induced kidney injury is increasing owing to the high incidence of hyperuricemia in recent years. The flower of Abelmoschus manihot (Linneus) Medik is a traditional Chinese medicinal herb widely used in the ...

Large-scale preparation of active caspase-3 in by designing its thrombin-activatable precursors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Background Caspase-3, a principal apoptotic effector that cleaves the majority of cellular substrates, is an important medicinal target for the treatment of cancers and neurodegenerative diseases.
