Caspase-3 and Caspase-8 in Patients with Nodular Goiter and Autoimmune Thyroiditis
The article presents results of the comparative analysis of peroxidation process activity of caspase-3 and caspase-8 in patients with thyroid adenoma (TA) and nodular goiter with autoimmune thyroiditis (NGAIT).

Background Immune activation, neuroinflammation, and cell death are the hallmarks of multiple sclerosis (MS), which is an autoimmune demyelinating disease of the central nervous system (CNS). It is well-documented that the cellular inhibitor of apoptosis

cMet and fas receptor interaction inhibits death-inducing signaling complex formation in endothelial cells [PDF]
Fas receptor is constitutively expressed on endothelial cells; however, these cells are highly resistant to Fas-mediated apoptosis. In this study, we examined death-inducing signaling complex (DISC) formation in endothelial cells after Fas receptor ...

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Caspase Inhibitor Diminishes Caffeic Acid-induced Apoptosis in Osteosarcoma Cells [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Caffeic acid has been shown to induce apoptosis in MG63 osteosarcoma cells. Along with the apoptotic induction, caffeic acid was shown to activate caspase-8, -9 and -3.

Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Brainiac Caspases: Beyond the Wall of Apoptosis [PDF]
For the last two decades, caspases, a family of cysteine-aspartic proteases, have evolved from being considered solely as regulators of apoptosis or inflammation to having a wider range of functions.

Apaf-1- and Caspase-8-independent apoptosis [PDF]
Two major apoptosis pathways, the mitochondrial and death receptor pathways, are well recognized. Here we established cell lines from the fetal thymus of Apaf-1-, Caspase-9-, or Bax/Bak-deficient mice. These cell lines were resistant to apoptosis induced by DNA-damaging agents, RNA or protein synthesis inhibitors, or stress in the endoplasmic reticulum.

Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
