Cassava starch biosynthesis: new avenues for modifying starch quantity and quality

Euphytica, 1997
The genes coding for the main enzymes involved in cassava starch biosynthesis have been cloned and characterised. Molecular analysis of these genes revealed high amino acid sequence homology with other cloned genes from starch forming plant species. Use of these genes to modify the pathway of starch biosynthesis in cassava has become possible with the ...

Simplified Economical Cassava Starch Process

Starch - Stärke, 1980
AbstractIn consultation with the Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam (The Netherlands) a simplified cassava starch flowsheet was developed. The equipment is suitable for skid‐mounting which would make it possible to move the plant to another harvesting site, when desired.

Preparation and characterization of cassava bagasse reinforced thermoplastic cassava starch

Fibers and Polymers, 2017
A starch-based composite film was prepared by using fibrous residual of starch extraction (cassava bagasse) as filler. Composite films were prepared through casting technique using fructose as a plasticizer and various sizes and concentrations of bagasse.

Kinetics of cassava starch hydrolysis with Termamyl® enzyme

Biotechnology and Bioengineering, 2000
Kinetic properties of Termamyl(R) 120L were investigated with respect to starch hydrolysis in a batch reactor at substrate concentrations of 50-270 g. dm(-3) and enzyme concentrations of 0. 17-1 cm(3). dm(-3) (i.e., cm(3) of Novo Nordisk enzymatic solution per dm(3) of raw cassava starch suspension).

Physico-Chemical Properties of Cassava Starch

Starch - Stärke, 1998
Cassava starch was isolated from flour of four IITA (International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, Ibadan, Nigeria) cassava genotypes planted in the dry and in the rainy season and harvested at 6, 9, 12, 15 and 18 months after planting. The amylose contents of the starch samples varied between 17.9 and 23.6%.
