Evaluation of Cassia roxburghii Seed Gum as Binder in Tablet Formulations of Selected Drugs

International Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Nanotechnology, 1970
The purpose of the study was to evaluate cassia roxburghii seed gum powder as binder for paracetamol and diclofenac sodium. Granules of both drugs were prepared by wet granulation method. Two different laboratory developed methods were tried for the isolation of seed mucilage from seed powder.

Study of algal biomass harvesting through cationic cassia gum, a natural plant based biopolymer

Bioresource Technology, 2014
Green unicellular microalgae have a capacity to entrap CO2 to increase their biomass through photosynthesis and are important for the value added product. The presence of COOH and NH2 groups are responsible for imparting negative zeta value. The present work emphasizes on the synthesis of cationic cassia (CCAS) by the insertion of quaternary amine ...

Microwave promoted grafting of acrylonitrile onto Cassia siamea seed gum

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2006
AbstractCassia siamea seed polysaccharide was grafted with acrylonitrile under microwave (MW) irradiation without adding any radical initiator or catalyst. Free radicals are generated here due to the dielectric heating caused by the localized rotation of the hydroxyl groups at the polysaccharide backbone and initiate grafting.

Polyacrylonitrile‐grafted Cassia pudibunda seed gum: A potential commercial gum from renewable source

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2005
AbstractCassia pudibunda (CP) seed gum was grafted with poly(acrylonitrile) using persulphate/ascorbic acid redox initiator. Optimal grafting Conditions were determined and maximum % grafting and % efficiency observed were 294 and 85.3%, respectively. Grafted CP gum (gum‐g‐polyacrylonitrile; CP‐g‐PAN) was characterized using FTIR, XRD, and TGA analysis.

Gum and protein enrichment from sicklepod (Cassia obtusifolia) seed by fine grinding and sieving

Industrial Crops and Products, 2005
Abstract Sicklepod ( Cassia obtusifolia ) is a weed species that has contaminated soybean and other crops. Although sicklepod continues to be a problem weed, the advent of herbicide-resistant soybeans has reduced the problem somewhat in the last few years. Sicklepod seed contains a gum of commercial interest in addition to protein and fat.
