Intersection Numbers on Fibrations and Catalan Numbers

On an elliptic surface or threefold, Catalan numbers appear when one tries to compute the autoequivalence group action on the Bridgeland stability manifold. We explain why this happens by identifying a class of equations in the Chow ring of a fibration, where the solutions always involve Catalan numbers.

Engineering a Spin‐Orbit Bandgap in Graphene‐Tellurium Heterostructures

Tellurium intercalation in epitaxial graphene on Ir(111) enables the emergence of a spin–orbit‐induced bandgap with energy spin splitting. By combining STM, ARPES, spin‐resolved ARPES, and DFT, two structural phases are identified, both exhibiting tunable electronic doping.

Coxeter-biCatalan combinatorics [PDF]

We consider several counting problems related to Coxeter-Catalan combinatorics and conjecture that the problems all have the same answer, which we call the $W$ -biCatalan number. We prove the conjecture in many cases.
