The inhibition of catalase by glutathione
Free Radical Biology and Medicine, 1989Reduced glutathione (GSH) inhibited catalase activity in a dose-dependent manner. DL-dithiothreitol (DL-DTT) and dithioerythritol (DTE) also inhibited catalase activity. The inhibition of catalase by GSH and DL-DTT could be reduced by NADPH. Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis demonstrated the inhibition was partially reversible.

To test the feasibility of using liposomes to deliver therapeutic agents to the lungs, the effect of liposome-encapsulated superoxide dismutase (SOD) or catalase on pulmonary oxygen toxicity was studied in rats.

The catalase of a freshwater bivalve
Canadian Journal of Zoology, 1970The catalase activity of various tissues of a freshwater mussel was studied. The concentration in the digestive gland is about three times that of the viscera and seven times that of mantle and muscular tissue. Semipurified digestive gland catalase has optimal activity at 10 °C and pH 7.8.
