The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Enantioselective radical chemistry: a bright future ahead

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry
This perspective is focused on enantioselective free radical reactions. It describes several important catalytic asymmetric strategies applied to enantioselective radical reactions, including chiral Lewis acid catalysis, organocatalysis, photoredox ...

Highly selective hydrogenation of arenes using nanostructured ruthenium catalysts modified with a carbon–nitrogen matrix

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
The selective reduction of arenes is important in organic synthesis and also valorization of biomass. Here, the authors report the use of ruthenium-based nanoparticles, which display high activity in arene reduction and preferentially hydrogenate ...

Deactivation and Regeneration of Mo/ZSM-5 Catalysts for Methane Dehydroaromatization

open access: yesEurasian Chemico-Technological Journal, 2010
The methane dehydroaromatization (DHA) was studied over a series of impregnated Mo/ZSM-5 catalysts with different molybdenum contents (1-10 wt.%). It was shown that total methane conversion was decreased by 30% during 12 h of DHA reaction.

Inverse magnetic catalysis in field theory and gauge-gravity duality

open access: yes, 2012
We investigate the surface of the chiral phase transition in the three-dimensional parameter space of temperature, baryon chemical potential and magnetic field in two different approaches, the field-theoretical Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model and the ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Influence of feedstock composition on the pressure drop buildup in gas oil hydrotreater

open access: yesChimica Techno Acta
In this work two samples of solid particulates obtained from the intergranular space of the guard beds catalyst of industrial gas oil hydrotreating reactors were investigated. The hydrotreating reactors were operated on feedstock of different composition.

Holographic QCD in the Veneziano limit at finite Magnetic Field and Chemical Potential

open access: yes, 2017
We investigate the phase diagram of QCD-like gauge theories at strong coupling at finite magnetic field $B$, temperature $T$ and baryon chemical potential $\mu$ using the improved holographic QCD model including the full backreaction of the quarks in the

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

CO2 Catalysis [PDF]

open access: yesChemSusChem, 2017
Out of thin air: In this Editorial, the Guest Editors introduce a Special Issue on Carbon Dioxide Conversion Catalysis, discuss its importance in modern chemical processes, and highlight a few examples of its use in industry, such as the synthesis of cyclic carbonates and the conversion of CO2 into fuels.
