Reduced Mechanical Tactile Stimulation Under Space Microgravity Affects Synaptic Signaling and Contributes to Neuromuscular Aging in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 12, 30 June 2026.
Microgravity (μG) reduces mechanical tactile stimulation in Caenorhabditis elegans, causing neuromuscular decline, altered gene expression, synaptic defects, and accelerated aging phenotypes. The gentle‐touch mechanoreceptor MEC‐4 mediates μG‐induced body length reduction and extracellular matrix gene downregulation.

The crystal structure of an extracellular catechol oxidase from the ascomycete fungus Aspergillus oryzae

open access: yes, 2013
Catechol oxidases (EC 1.10.3.1) catalyse the oxidation of o-diphenols to their corresponding o-quinones. These oxidases contain two copper ions (CuA and CuB) within the so-called coupled type 3 copper site as found in tyrosinases (EC 1.14.18.1) and ...

Steric control of copper nuclearity in sulfur ligated oxidase mimics alters catechol and phenoxazinone oxidation

open access: yesScientific Reports
Control over copper nuclearity is a key issue in bioinspired oxidation chemistry, yet its mechanistic consequences in sulfur-donor environments remain insufficiently understood.

Two candidate gene polymorphisms in ADHD children: a case-control study of catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) and monoamine oxidase B (MAOB) genes

open access: yesArchives of Medical Science, 2006
Introduction: Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common polygenic heritable disorder. We have investigated the relationship between ADHD and polymorphisms of catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) and monoaminooxidase B (MAOB) genes. It is

Relation between the catalytic efficiency of the synthetic analogues of catechol oxidase with their electrochemical property in the Free State and substrate-bound state

open access: yes, 2014
A library of 15 dicopper complexes as synthetic analogues of catechol oxidase has been synthesized with the aim to determine the relationship between the electrochemical behavior of the dicopper(II) species in the absence as well as in the presence ...
