A novel bidirectional positive feedback loop between Wnt/ -catenin and EGFR/ERK: role of context-specific signalling crosstalk in modulating epithelial tissue regeneration

open access: yes, 2014
By operating as both a subunit of the cadherin complex and a key component of Wnt signalling, β-catenin constitutes the lynchpin between cell:cell contact and transcriptional regulation of proliferation to co-ordinate epithelial tissue homeostasis and ...

Table3_Global role of IGF2BP1 in controlling the expression of Wnt/β-catenin-regulated genes in colorectal cancer cells.xlsx

open access: yes, 2023
Introduction: Wnt/β-catenin signaling controls cell division and lineage specification during embryonic development, and is crucial for stem cells maintenance and gut tissue regeneration in adults.

Transient Expression of WNT2 Promotes Somatic Cell Reprogramming by Inducing β-Catenin Nuclear Accumulation

open access: yesStem Cell Reports, 2016
Summary: Treatment with several Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway regulators can change the cellular reprogramming efficiency; however, the dynamics and role of endogenous Wnt/β-catenin signaling in reprogramming remain largely unanswered. Here we identify

USP8 positively regulates hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and confers ferroptosis resistance through β-catenin stabilization

open access: yesCell Death and Disease, 2023
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common type of primary hepatic carcinoma, which is a growing public health problem worldwide. One of the main genetic alterations in HCC is the deregulated Wnt/β-catenin signaling, activation of β-catenin is ...

DNA methylation and expression of MAPRE3 affect overall survival of early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.

Oncogenic potential of N-terminal deletion and S45Y mutant β-catenin in promoting hepatocellular carcinoma development in mice

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2018
Background Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the leading causes of cancer-related death worldwide with limited treatment options. Mutation of β-catenin is one of the most frequent genetic events along hepatocarcinogenesis.

δ‐Catenin regulates proliferation and apoptosis in renal cell carcinoma via promoting β‐catenin nuclear localization and activating its downstream target genes

open access: yesCancer Medicine, 2020
δ‐Catenin is a unique member of the catenin family and is proved to be overexpressed in diverse human cancer types. However, the clinical significance and underling mechanism of δ‐catenin expression in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) remain elusive.

β-catenin-IRP2-primed iron availability to mitochondrial metabolism is druggable for active β-catenin-mediated cancer

open access: yesJournal of Translational Medicine, 2023
Background Although β-catenin signaling cascade is frequently altered in human cancers, targeting this pathway has not been approved for cancer treatment.

Liquid biopsy‐based diagnostic evaluation of hypermethylated CpG sites for ovarian cancer diagnosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This schematic outlines the workflow from biomarker identification to duplex MethyLight assay validation for epithelial ovarian cancer diagnosis using cfDNA‐based liquid biopsy. Initial screening of hypermethylated CpG candidates (cg02957270, cg10061138 cg00480298, COL2A1) was performed in tissue using ARMS‐PCR, COBRA, qPCR and image analysis. Selected
