K-Ras and β-catenin mutations cooperate with Fgfr3 mutations in mice to promote tumorigenesis in the skin and lung, but not in the bladder [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The human fibroblast growth factor receptor 3 (FGFR3) gene is frequently mutated in superficial urothelial cell carcinoma (UCC). To test the functional significance of FGFR3 activating mutations as a ‘driver’ of UCC, we targeted the expression of mutated

The FAM deubiquitylating enzyme localizes to multiple points of protein trafficking in epithelia, where it associates with E-cadherin and beta-catenin

open access: yes, 2004
Copyright © 2004 by The American Society for Cell Biology.Ubiquitylation is a necessary step in the endocytosis and lysosomal trafficking of many plasma membrane proteins and can also influence protein trafficking in the biosynthetic pathway.

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

DNA topoisomerase II alpha promotes the metastatic characteristics of glioma cells by transcriptionally activating β-catenin

open access: yes, 2022
DNA topoisomerase II alpha (TOP2A) reportedly plays a crucial role in several cancers, however, the precise regulatory role of TOP2A in metastatic characteristics of glioma is still poorly understood.

TMEM97 governs partial epithelial-mesenchymal transition of retinal pigment epithelial cells via the CTNND2-ADAM10 axis

open access: yesMolecular Therapy: Nucleic Acids
Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is associated with retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) dysfunction in degenerative retinal diseases. However, the role of partial EMT (pEMT), a hybrid state exhibiting both epithelial and mesenchymal markers, remains ...

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Characterisation of Aardvark, a Dictyostelium ß-catenin. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Wnt signalling is active both in development and the progression of certain disease processes, most notably cancer. Glycogen Synthase Kinase-3 (GSK-3) and ß-catenin both define the canonical Wnt pathway, where GSK-3 negatively regulates ß-catenin ...

Table1_Global role of IGF2BP1 in controlling the expression of Wnt/β-catenin-regulated genes in colorectal cancer cells.xlsx

open access: yes, 2023
Introduction: Wnt/β-catenin signaling controls cell division and lineage specification during embryonic development, and is crucial for stem cells maintenance and gut tissue regeneration in adults.

Diverse Basis of β-Catenin Activation in Human Hepatocellular Carcinoma: Implications in Biology and Prognosis. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
β-catenin signaling is a major oncogenic pathway in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Since β-catenin phosphorylation by glycogen synthase kinase 3β (GSK3β) and casein kinase 1ε (CK1ε) results in its degradation, mutations affecting these phosphorylation ...

Emerging Direct Targeting β-Catenin Agents

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
Aberrant accumulation of β-catenin in the cell nucleus as a result of deregulation of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway is found in various types of cancer. Direct β-catenin targeting agents are being researched despite obstacles; however, specific β-catenin ...
