Enhancing Magnetic Hyperthermia at the Cell Membrane by Anchoring 92R‐Functionalized Magnetic Nanoparticles to Low‐Endocytic CCR9 Surface Receptors

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We present a strategy to enhance magnetic hyperthermia therapy by modulating nanoparticle–cell interactions. Antibody‐functionalized magnetic nanoparticles targeting the low‐internalizing CCR9 receptor enable spatially controlled membrane anchoring, reducing aggregation and maximizing heat generation under alternating magnetic fields.

Preparation of recombinant lysosomal cysteine protease, cathepsin K in insect cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009

Cathepsin K and Metabolic Abnormalities in Schizophrenia [PDF]

open access: yesArteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology, 2008
To the Editor: We read with much interest in the September issue of Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology the article by Yang et al entitled “Deficiency and Inhibition of Cathepsin K Reduce Body Weight Gain and Increase Glucose Metabolism in Mice.”1 The authors demonstrate a direct participation of cathepsin K (CatK) in mouse body weight ...

A 3D Bioprinted Spheroid‐Laden dECM‐Enriched Osteosarcoma Model for Enhanced Drug Testing and Therapeutic Discovery

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D biomimetic OS model was developed by bioprinting an OS‐cell‐derived dECM‐enriched bioink with OS spheroids incorporated. The model showed upregulation of known OS prognostic markers and increased resistance to doxorubicin, compared to 2D cultures and scaffold‐free spheroids, making this a more clinically relevant platform for drug discovery ...

Inhibition of MAPK-Erk pathway in vivo attenuates aortic valve disease processes in Emilin1-deficient mouse model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Aortic valve disease (AVD) is a common condition with a progressive natural history, and presently, there are no pharmacologic treatment strategies. Elastic fiber fragmentation (EFF) is a hallmark of AVD, and increasing evidence implicates developmental ...

Biofabrication of Endothelialized, Intrinsically Vascularized 3D‐Printed Recombinant Spider Silk Scaffolds

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study evaluates 3D‐printed recombinant spider silk hydrogel eADF4(C16)‐RGD in a rat AV loop model for tissue engineering. Constructs with T17b endothelial progenitor cells showed enhanced vascularization and biodegradation. Results highlight the importance of scaffold design and cellular integration in improving vascular density and overall ...

Human macrophage foam cells degrade atherosclerotic plaques through cathepsin K mediated processes

open access: yesBMC Cardiovascular Disorders, 2010
Background Proteolytic degradation of Type I Collagen by proteases may play an important role in remodeling of atherosclerotic plaques, contributing to increased risk of plaque rupture.

Morphologic and functional correlates of synaptic pathology in the cathepsin D knockout mouse model of congenital neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Mutations in the cathepsin D (CTSD) gene cause an aggressive neurodegenerative disease (congenital neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis) that leads to early death. Recent evidence suggests that presynaptic abnormalities play a major role in the pathogenesis of
