Full-length transcriptome sequencing of the longissimus dorsi muscle of yak and cattle-yak using nanopore technology

open access: yesInternational Journal of Biological Macromolecules
Short-read RNA sequencing has been used to sequence the transcriptome of the skeletal muscle of yak and cattle-yak; however, full-length transcripts cannot be obtained and alternative splicing (AS) events cannot be inferred using this sequencing approach.

Emergence of Lumpy Skin Disease Virus Infection in Yaks, Cattle‐Yaks, and Cattle on the Qinghai–Xizang Plateau of China

open access: yesTransboundary and Emerging Diseases
Lumpy skin disease (LSD) is a viral disease caused by lumpy skin disease virus (LSDV), which mainly infects cattle and can cause huge economic losses. In May 2023, yaks, cattle‐yaks, and cattle in Tibet (Xizang), China, developed fever, skin nodules, and severe discharges and were suspected to be cases of LSD.

Effect of 3-Nitropropionic Acid at Different Doses on In Vitro Rumen Fermentation, Digestibility, and Methane Emissions of Grazing Yak and Cattle

open access: yesAnimals
3-nitropropionic acid (3NPA) has been proposed as an useful modifier to mitigate ruminal enteric methane emissions. However, few studies investigated the effects of 3NPA on ruminal fermentation characteristics of grazing ruminants in vitro.

Study on the Regulatory Mechanism of the PDK1-Mediated TGF-β/Smad Signaling Pathway in Hypoxia-Induced Yak Lungs

open access: yes
The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of hypoxia-induced phenotype, glucose metabolism, ROS levels, and the PDK1-mediated regulation of TGF-β/Smad signaling in yellow cattles, yaks, and those overexpressing PDK1 PASMCs using growth ...
