Evaluation of CD4+ T Cells in HIV Patients Presenting with Malaria at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital Nigeria [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
CD4 count is an important immunological marker of disease progression in HIV seropositive patients. This study was carried out to determine the effect of malaria or fever of unknown origin on the population of CD4+ T lymphocytes of HIV seropositive ...

Oral manifestations related to CD4 lymphocyte count in HIV-positive patients

open access: yesJournal of dental research, dental clinics, dental prospects, 2010
Background and aims. The onset of opportunistic infections in HIV-positive patients is generally associated with a low CD4 count. Oral manifestations can be the first clinical sign of the infection and also determine the progression of disease. The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence of oral soft tissue manifestations and their ...

PET Imaging of Cardiac Inflammation in Viral Myocarditis Using a DPP4‐Targeted Probe

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study describes a DPP4‐targeted PET probe for imaging myocardial inflammation by selectively targeting activated immune cells. Derived from the clinically approved small‐molecule inhibitor linagliptin, the probe demonstrates favorable biodistribution with specific cardiac uptake in myocarditis.

Functional characterization of infiltrating T lymphocytes in human hepatic allografts [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
We have employed recently developed techniques in T-cell culturing to study the nature and function of infiltrating hepatic allograft T cells. Using the rationale that intragraft T cells are activated during cell mediated damage to the allograft, we were

Humanized and Charge‐Optimized CSPG4‐Specific CAR‐T Cells show Enhanced Efficacy against Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CSPG4 is identified as a high‐value, stemness‐associated target in HPV‐negative HNSCC. By implementing rational biophysical engineering, a humanized and charge‐optimized CAR is developed to overcome tonic signaling‐induced exhaustion. This strategy induces a profound transcriptomic shift toward a rejuvenated, stem‐like memory state, significantly ...

Pre-HAART CD4+ T-lymphocytes as biomarkers of post-HAART immune recovery in HIV-infected children with or without TB co-infection

open access: yesBMC Infectious Diseases, 2020
Background Infection with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) dramatically increases the risk of developing active tuberculosis (TB). Several studies have indicated that co-infection with TB increases the risk of HIV progression and death. Sub-Saharan

Lymphocyte subsets and the role of Th1/Th2 balance in stressed chronic pain patients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Background: The complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) and fibromyalgia (FM) are chronic pain syndromes occurring in highly stressed individuals. Despite the known connection between the nervous system and immune cells, information on distribution of ...

Tumor‐Derived Alpha‐1 Antitrypsin Promotes Liver Metastasis of Colorectal Cancer Through the Neutrophil Extracellular Traps–CCDC25 Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Liver metastasis is a leading cause of mortality in colorectal cancer (CRC), where the inflammatory tumor microenvironment, specifically neutrophil infiltration, significantly promotes metastatic colonization. This study reveals a pro‐metastatic role for alpha‐1 antitrypsin (A1AT) in CRC liver metastasis via a dual mechanism involving ...

CD4 T-lymphocyte cell counts and pneumonia in HIV children

open access: yesQanun Medika: Jurnal Kedokteran Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya, 2018
CD4 T-lymphocyte cell counts and pneumonia in HIV-infected children Abstract Background Pneumonia is a major cause of morbidity and the most common cause of mortality in infants and children who are infected with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). For
