Previous studies have demonstrated the monoclonal antibody, TFS-4, to recognize a cell surface antigen, 124,000 Daltons, of molecular weight expressed selectively on small cell lung cancer but not on non-small cell lung cancer, and to cross-react with the human brain, cardiac muscle and some smooth muscle cells.

Aberrant expression of CD7, CD56, and CD79a antigens in acute myeloid leukemias
Experimental and Molecular Pathology, 2005The prognostic significance of selected markers of leukemic cells is well known. CD7 and CD56 expression at diagnosis has been associated with low remission rates and biological aggressiveness in a significant proportion of acute leukemias. Among 46 patients with acute myeloid leukemia, we found CD7 expression in 15 cases (32.6%) and CD56 positivity in

CD56+, NKp46+ cell line (MZ93) expressing T-cell and myeloid antigens
Leukemia Research, 2002The MZ93 cell line, established from a patient with CML, expressed CD4, CD7, CD13, CD25, CD33, CD34, CD56 and NKp46. The additional karyotype abnormality of the Ph-positive leukemia cells in vivo, 6p+, was also observed in MZ93. The early passages of MZ93 expressed CD3 in the cytoplasm, but the late passages did not. The cells did not express mature NK-

Prognostic Significance of Surface Markers Expressed in Multiple Myeloma: CD56 and Other Antigens
Leukemia & Lymphoma, 2004Multiple myeloma (MM) is characterized by increased numbers of malignant plasma cells. Plasma cells, that represent the terminal differentiation of B lymphocytes, have considerable heterogeneity of surface markers expressed on them. Some studies showed the prognostic significance of several immunophenotypic molecules on MM cells.

Abstract 3499: CD56 targeted chimeric antigen receptors for immunotherapy of multiple myeloma
Cancer Research, 2012Abstract We have developed an adoptive T cell therapy strategy for treating multiple myeloma using chimeric antigen receptors targeting CD56. CD56 is strongly expressed by malignant plasma cells in 70% of patients with myeloma and represents a potential immunotherapy target.

[Expression of CD56 antigen on acute nonlymphocytic leukemia].
Rinsho byori. The Japanese journal of clinical pathology, 1992CD56 antigen (detected by NKH-1) is distributed on NK cells, monocytes, and ectodermal neural cells. In this study, the blasts of 29.2% of 27 patients with acute nonlymphocytic leukemia (ANLL) expressed CD56 antigen, but not CD16, CD2, or CD3 antigen. Leukemic cells isolated from 3 patients with CD56-positive ANLL did not have NK activity.

Association of T-lymphoblastic lymphoma (LBL) and Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) in the same lymph node is very rare. Herein, we report such two cases with expression of CD56 in Langerhans cells. Immunohistochemically, lymphoblasts were positive for anti-polyclonal CD3 antibody, CD34, CD7, CD99, and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase. LCH cells

Human natural killer (NK) cells carry CD16/FcR and CD56 cell-surface Ag but lack the T-cell marker CD3. Here we show that incubation of resting human NK cells with CD3-/16+/56+ phenotype with autologous monocytes induced the disappearance of CD16 and CD56 cell-surface Ag on NK-cells but did not affect CD2 or CD3 Ag expression on T-cells.

The exceptionality of endometrium, differentiating it from other epithelial tissues is related with its ability to regulate the number and activity of infiltrating immunological cells according to menstrual cycle phases. The aim of this study was a comparative evaluation of the number of CD56 positive cells, as well the analysis of CD69 antigen ...
