Temporal Dynamics of CD8+ T Cell Effector Responses during Primary HIV Infection. [PDF]
The loss of HIV-specific CD8+ T cell cytolytic function is a primary factor underlying progressive HIV infection, but whether HIV-specific CD8+ T cells initially possess cytolytic effector capacity, and when and why this may be lost during infection, is ...

Diversity in CD8+ T cell differentiation [PDF]
CD8(+) T cells are key effector cells of the adaptive immune system, however their activity must be tightly regulated to allow pathogen clearance whilst preventing immunopathology and autoimmunity. In this review, we summarise the diversity of responses that CD8(+) T cells make to antigenic stimulation with a focus on how CD8(+) T cell responses are ...

Chemoresistance in bladder cancer: Macrophage recruitment associated with CXCL1, CXCL5 and CXCL8 expression is characteristic of Gemcitabine/Cisplatin (Gem/Cis) Non‐Responder tumors (right side) while Responder tumors did not show substantial tumor‐stromal crosstalk (left side). All biological icons are attributed to Bioicons: carcinoma, cancerous‐cell‐

Sifting through CD8 + T Cell Memory [PDF]
In this issue of Immunity, Gerlach et al. (2016) describe three distinct memory CD8+ T cell subsets based upon expression of the fractalkine receptor CX3CR1. Their findings revise the paradigm of effector and central memory T cells by revealing a subset of CD8+ memory T cells defined by intermediate levels of expression of CX3CR1 that conducts tissue ...

We first identified functional murine mitochondrial N‐formyl peptides (MT‐FPs) and investigated their effects on the in vitro myeloid‐derived suppressor cell (MDSC) generation from bone marrow cells. We demonstrated that MT‐FPs acted directly on bone marrow cells to promote MDSC generation and modulated the polymorphonuclear (PMN)‐MDSC/monocyte (M ...

Enhanced neointima formation following arterial injury in immune deficient Rag-1-/- mice is attenuated by adoptive transfer of CD8 T cells. [PDF]
T cells modulate neointima formation after arterial injury but the specific T cell population that is activated in response to arterial injury remains unknown.

Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.

Memory CD8 T cell transcriptional plasticity [PDF]
Memory CD8 T cells generated after acute viral infections or live vaccines can persist for extended periods, in some instances for life, and play an important role in protective immunity. This long-lived immunity is achieved in part through cytokine-mediated homeostatic proliferation of memory T cells while maintaining the acquired capacity for rapid ...

The Aging Blood: Cellular Origins, Circulating Drivers, and Therapeutic Potential
As a conduit linking all organs, the blood system both reflects and actively drives systemic aging. This review highlights how circulating pro‐aging and antiaging factors and age‐associated hematopoietic stem cell dysfunction contribute to immunosenescence and multi‐organ decline, positioning the hematopoietic system as a target for aging intervention.

Nonclassical MHC Ib-restricted CD8+ T Cells Recognize Mycobacterium tuberculosis-Derived Protein Antigens and Contribute to Protection Against Infection. [PDF]
MHC Ib-restricted CD8+ T cells have been implicated in host defense against Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) infection. However, the relative contribution of various MHC Ib-restricted T cell populations to anti-mycobacterial immunity remains elusive.
