Cephem Potentiation by Inactivation of Nonessential Genes Involved in Cell Wall Biogenesis of ß-Lactamase-Producing Escherichia coli [PDF]
Reversal of antimicrobial resistance is an appealing and largely unexplored strategy in drug discovery. The objective of this study was to identify potential targets for “helper” drugs reversing cephem resistance in Escherichia coli strains producing β ...

Discrepancies in Beta‐Lactam Antibiotics Cross‐Reactivity: Implications for Clinical Practice
Four studies previously published on beta‐lactam antibiotics cross‐reactivity were compared head‐to‐head. These studies covered 51 antibiotics, theoretically leading to 2550 potential recommendations regarding alternatives in case of specific allergies. The studies analysed different sets of beta‐lactam antibiotics.

Allergic Diseases in Common Variable Immunodeficiency: A Prospective Cross‐Sectional Study on Prevalence and Allergy Biomarkers of Clinical Phenotypes [PDF]
Allergy occurred in 27% of 60 CVID patients, while IgE deficiency was observed in 65% and was strongly correlated with serum IgA levels. Low serum IgE/IgA levels accurately identified lymphoproliferative and granulomatous phenotypes, thereby improving diagnostic and prognostic stratification in CVID.

Cephalosporin‐induced liver injury usually presents as a self‐limited, mixed, or cholestatic hepatitis without hypersensitivity features, typically developing 1 to 4 weeks after treatment. With cefazolin, it often occurs after a single parenteral dose. A strong genetic association has been found with HLA‐A*02:01, with more severe liver injury at onset.

Antibiotic Susceptibility Patterns and Penicillinase Activity of Staphylococci spp from Wound Specimens in Lagos [PDF]
Forty-five Staphylococci spp comprising 33 (73.3%) Staphylococcus aureus and 12 (26.7%) Staphylococcus epidermidis isolated from both non-surgical and post-surgical septic wounds were evaluated for penicillinase activity.
