Doxycycline prophylaxis in lung transplant recipients was associated with reduced hyperammonemia syndrome and shorter ventilation, ICU, and hospital stays. These findings suggest that doxycycline prophylaxis may help prevent Ureaplasma/Mycoplasma‐related morbidity.

Distributed lags time series analysis versus linear correlation analysis (Pearson's r) in identifying the relationship between antipseudomonal antibiotic consumption and the susceptibility of Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates in a single Intensive Care Unit of a tertiary hospital [PDF]
The relationship between antibiotic consumption and selection of resistant strains has been studied mainly by employing conventional statistical methods.

ABSTRACT Background and Aims Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a non‐fermentative, opportunistic Gram‐negative bacterium that causes 10%–15% of nosocomial and burn wound infections worldwide. This bacterium is resistant to various antibiotics through multiple mechanisms, including acquisition of resistance genes.

The Surgical Infection Society revised guidelines on the management of intra-abdominal infection [PDF]
Background: Previous evidence-based guidelines on the management of intra-abdominal infection (IAI) were published by the Surgical Infection Society (SIS) in 1992, 2002, and 2010. At the time the most recent guideline was released, the plan was to update

ABSTRACT Limb salvage using free tissue transfer in patients with rare autoinflammatory syndromes is poorly described, and the safety of microvascular reconstruction in this population remains uncertain. Hereditary pyogenic arthritis, pyoderma gangrenosum, and acne (PAPA) syndrome is characterized by dysregulated inflammation, pathergy, and impaired ...

In vitro activity of cefepime/zidebactam (WCK 5222) against Gram-negative bacteria [PDF]
Background: Diazabicyclooctanes (DBOs) inhibit class A, class C and some class D β-lactamases. A few also bind PBP2, conferring direct antibacterial activity and a β-lactamase-independent ‘enhancer' effect, potentiating β-lactams targeting PBP3.

Tibetan pig farms host diverse Escherichia coli strains that resist multiple antibiotics and carry important disease genes, such as astA. These traits jump easily between bacterial groups, marking intensive pig production as a key reservoir and signalling the need for integrated animal–human surveillance and more careful antibiotic use.
