Application of Metagenomic Next‐Generation Sequencing in the Diagnosis of Pneumonia in Patients With Cancer

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Background With the development of new sequencing technologies, metagenomic next‐generation sequencing (mNGS) has become a diagnostic tool for respiratory tract infections. Patients with cancer may develop pneumonia caused by infections or antitumor therapy.

Identification of a Novel De Novo Heterozygous SEC61A1 Variant in a Patient With Severe Congenital Neutropenia

open access: yesMolecular Genetics &Genomic Medicine, Volume 14, Issue 5, May 2026.
Severe congenital neutropenia can be caused by rare SEC61A1 variants. We report a child with SCN showing granulocytic maturation arrest and abnormal immunophenotype, carrying a novel de novo SEC61A1 p.Trp379Arg variant, expanding the phenotypic and genetic spectrum of SEC61A1‐associated SCN.

Hemolytic Anemia and Reactive Thrombocytosis Associated With Cefoperazone/Sulbactam

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2019
Background: Cefoperazone/sulbactam is a broad-spectrum antibacterial agent. Drug-induced immune hemolytic anemia is a rare but serious condition, and reactive thrombocytosis is caused by processes extrinsic to the megakaryocyte.

Prevalence and diversity of Arcobacter spp. in poultry meat in New Zealand : a thesis presented in the partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Veterinary Microbiology and Public Health at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The microaerophilic bacterium Arcobacter has received increased attention in recent years as an emerging foodborne human pathogen. Although phenotypically related, arcobacters differ from campylobacters in their ability to grow aerobically and at lower ...

Darkling beetles (Alphitobius diaperinus) and their larvae as potential vectors for the transfer of Campylobacter jejuni and Salmonella enterica serovar paratyphi B variant Java between successive broiler flocks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Broiler flocks often become infected with Campylobacter and Salmonella, and the exact contamination routes are still not fully understood. Insects like darkling beetles and their larvae may play a role in transfer of the pathogens between consecutive ...

Isolation, Identification and Pathogenicity Analysis of Proteus mirabilis in Cynomolgus Monkey From Yunnan, China

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 3, May 2026.
This study demonstrated that the pathogen responsible for diarrhoea in a cynomolgus monkey was identified as Proteus mirabilis (P. mirabilis) through methods including bacterial isolation and culture, morphological examination, biochemical profiling, 16S rRNA sequencing, analysis of key virulence genes and bacterial artificial infection tests.

ZBTB21 Is a Dual Suppressor of Pyroptosis and MHC‐I Antigen Presentation That Promotes Tumor Immune Evasion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 22, 17 April 2026.
ZBTB21 is a transcription factor that epigenetically suppresses pyroptosis and MHC‐I antigen presentation, enabling tumor immune evasion. Genetic ablation of ZBTB21 activates pyroptotic cell death and enhances antigen presentation, recruiting CD8+ T cells to overcome immune checkpoint blockade resistance.

Tjalma Syndrome—A Rare but Real Manifestation of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Tjalma syndrome, also known as pseudo‐pseudo Meigs syndrome, is a rare complication of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) characterized by ascites, pleural effusion, and elevated CA‐125 levels in the absence of malignancy. We report a case of a 22‐year‐old woman with SLE presenting with vulvar swelling, severe polyserositis, nephritis, and ...
