Multicentre comparison of a diagnostic assay: Aquaporin-4 antibodies in neuromyelitis optica [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Objective Antibodies to cell surface central nervous system proteins help to diagnose conditions which often respond to immunotherapies. The assessment of antibody assays needs to reflect their clinical utility.

Changes in Body Composition in Children and Young People Undergoing Treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ongoing evidence indicates increased risk of sarcopenic obesity among children and young people (CYP) with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), often beginning early in treatment, persisting into survivorship. This review evaluates current literature on body composition in CYP with ALL during and after treatment.

Rapid and label-free identification of single leukemia cells from blood in a high-density microfluidic trapping array by fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The rapid screening and isolation of single leukemia cells from blood has become critical for early leukemia detection and tumor heterogeneity interrogation. However, due to the size overlap between leukemia cells and the more abundant white blood cells (

A Systematic Review of Evidence on the Clinical Effectiveness of Surveillance Imaging in Children With Medulloblastoma and Ependymoma

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Surveillance imaging aims to detect tumour relapse before symptoms develop, but it's unclear whether earlier detection of relapse leads to better outcomes in children and young people (CYP) with medulloblastoma and ependymoma. This systematic review aims to identify relevant literature to determine the efficacy of surveillance magnetic ...

Protocol for the detection of mechanosensitive response of proteins in cultured cells under compressive stress

open access: yesSTAR Protocols
Summary: Here, we present a protocol to detect mechanosensitive responses of proteins in cells under compressive stress. We describe steps for preparing elastic gels to compress cells grown on an imaging chamber.

Prognostic Impact of Treatment Modalities, Including Targeted Compartmental Radio‐Immunotherapy, in a Cohort of Neuroblastoma Patients With CNS Metastases at Relapse

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Neuroblastoma (NB) with central nervous system (CNS) metastases is rare at diagnosis, but occurs more often during relapse/progression. Patients with CNS metastases face a dismal prognosis, with no standardized curative treatment available.

Protocol for the colocalization of yeast peroxisomal membrane proteins and their binding partners using stimulated emission depletion microscopy

open access: yesSTAR Protocols
Summary: Peroxisomes are highly dynamic organelles that play crucial roles in cellular metabolism. Here, we present a protocol to investigate peroxisomal membrane proteins and their binding partners in the yeast Hansenula polymorpha using stimulated ...

Development of reverse-transcription PCR techniques to analyse the density and sex ratio of gametocytes in genetically diverse Plasmodium chabaudi infections [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We have developed cross-genotype and genotype-specific quantitative reverse-transcription PCR (qRT-PCR) assays to detect and quantify the number of parasites, transmission stages (gametocytes) and male gametocytes in blood stage Plasmodium chabaudi ...

Pathogenic Germline PALB2 and RAD50 Variants in Patients With Relapsed Ewing Sarcoma

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Approximately 10% of patients with Ewing sarcoma (EwS) have pathogenic germline variants. Here, we report two cases: first, a novel germline pathogenic variant in partner and localizer of BRCA2 (PALB2) in a patient with a late EwS relapse. Its impact on homologous recombination is demonstrated, and breast cancer risk is discussed.

Protocol to study monocyte transmigration across primary human liver endothelial cells under physiological shear flow conditions in vitro

open access: yesSTAR Protocols
Summary: Modeling immune cell recruitment by liver endothelial cells in vitro is important to better understand the pathology of chronic inflammatory liver diseases and cancers.
