Hematopoietic (stem) cells—The elixir of life?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The aging of HSCs (hematopoietic stem cells) and the blood system leads to the decline of other organs. Rejuvenating aged HSCs improves the function of the blood system, slowing the aging of the heart, kidney, brain, and liver, and the occurrence of age‐related diseases.

Small-scale in situ Hi-C protocol for early embryos to resolve the three-dimensional genome structure

open access: yesSTAR Protocols
Summary: High-throughput chromosome conformation capture (Hi-C) provides genome-wide insights into chromatin interactions within the three-dimensional structure of the nucleus, making it a powerful tool for studying genome architecture.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Diversity, Stability, Recursivity, and Rule Generation in Biological System: Intra-inter Dynamics Approach

open access: yes, 1998
Basic problems for the construction of a scenario for the Life are discussed. To study the problems in terms of dynamical systems theory, a scheme of intra-inter dynamics is presented.

Molecular Biology of the Cell

open access: yesColor Atlas of Clinical Hematology, 1990
Much of the research in the Pringle laboratory exploits the power of yeast as an experimentally tractable model eukaryote to investigate fundamental problems in cell and developmental biology such as the mechanisms of cell polarization and cytokinesis ...

Structural insights into lacto‐N‐biose I recognition by a family 32 carbohydrate‐binding module from Bifidobacterium bifidum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

An approach to evolving cell signaling networks in silico [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Cell Signaling Networks(CSN) are complex bio-chemical networks which, through evolution, have become highly efficient for governing critical control processes such as immunological responses, cell cycle control or homeostasis.

Dynamic remodeling of septin structures fine-tunes myogenic differentiation

open access: yesiScience
Summary: Controlled myogenic differentiation is integral to the development, maintenance and repair of skeletal muscle, necessitating precise regulation of myogenic progenitors and resident stem cells.
