Cardiac Hypertrophy Changes Compartmentation of cAMP in Non-Raft Membrane Microdomains

open access: yes, 2021
3′,5′-Cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) is a ubiquitous second messenger which plays critical roles in cardiac function and disease. In adult mouse ventricular myocytes (AMVMs), several distinct functionally relevant microdomains with tightly ...

New insight into the significance of KLF4 PARylation in genome stability, carcinogenesis, and therapy

open access: yesEMBO Molecular Medicine, 2020
KLF4 plays a critical role in determining cell fate responding to various stresses or oncogenic signaling. Here, we demonstrated that KLF4 is tightly regulated by poly(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (PARylation).

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Compartmentation of the Nucleolar Processing Proteins in the Granular Component is a CK2-driven Process.

open access: yes, 2006
To analyze the compartmentation of nucleolar protein complexes, the mechanisms controlling targeting of nucleolar processing proteins onto rRNA transcription sites has been investigated.

Chemodiversity of the Glucosinolate-Myrosinase System at the Single Cell Type Resolution

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2019
Glucosinolates (GLSs) are a well-defined group of specialized metabolites, and like any other plant specialized metabolites, their presence does not directly affect the plant survival in terms of growth and development.

Transmembrane Protein Oxygen Content and Compartmentalization of Cells

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2008
Recently, there was a report that explored the oxygen content of transmembrane proteins over macroevolutionary time scales where the authors observed a correlation between the geological time of appearance of compartmentalized cells with atmospheric oxygen concentration.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Cerebellar compartmentation of prion pathogenesis

open access: yes, 2017
International audienceIn prion diseases, the brain lesion profile is influenced by the prion “strain” properties, the invasion route to the brain, and still unknown host cell‐specific parameters. To gain insight into those endogenous factors, we analyzed
