Impact of contact inhibition on collective cell migration and proliferation [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2022
Contact inhibition limits migration and proliferation of cells in cell colonies. We consider a multiphase field model to investigate the growth dynamics of a cell colony, composed of proliferating cells. The model takes into account the mechanisms of contact inhibition of locomotion and proliferation by local mechanical interactions.

The expression of kappa-opioid receptor promotes the migration of breast cancer cells in vitro

open access: yesBMC Anesthesiology, 2021
Background Opioid receptors are implicated in cell proliferation and cancer migration. However, the effects and underlying mechanisms of opioid receptor κ (OPRK1) in breast cancer remain unknown.

Iron inhibits glioblastoma cell migration and polarization

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, 2023
Abstract Glioblastoma is one of the deadliest malignancies facing modern oncology today. The ability of glioblastoma cells to diffusely spread into neighboring healthy brain makes complete surgical resection nearly impossible and contributes to the recurrent disease faced by most patients.

HIV Nef Inhibits T Cell Migration [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2002
Nef is a viral regulatory protein of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) that has been shown to contribute to disease progression. Among its putative effects on T cell functions are the down-regulation of CD4 and major histocompatibility class I surface molecules.

Cell Migration with Multiple Pseudopodia: Temporal and Spatial Sensing Models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Cell migration triggered by pseudopodia (or “false feet”) is the most used method of locomotion. A 3D finite element model of a cell migrating over a 2D substrate is proposed, with a particular focus on the mechanical aspects of the biological phenomenon.

Synthesis of Caffeic Acid Amides Bearing 2,3,4,5-Tetra-hydrobenzo[b][1,4]dioxocine Moieties and Their Biological Evaluation as Antitumor Agents

open access: yesMolecules, 2014
A series of caffeic acid amides D1-D17 bearing 2,3,4,5-tetrahydrobenzo-[b][1,4]dioxocine units has been synthesized and their biological activities evaluated for potential antiproliferative and EGFR inhibitory activity.

On the mechanical interplay between intra- and inter-synchronization during collective cell migration : a numerical investigation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Collective cell migration is a fundamental process that takes place during several biological phenomena such as embryogenesis, immunity response, and tumorogenesis, but the mechanisms that regulate it are still unclear.

Reaction–Diffusion Finite Element Model of Lateral Line Primordium Migration to Explore Cell Leadership [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Collective cell migration plays a fundamental role in many biological phenomena such as immune response, embryogenesis and tumorigenesis. In the present work, we propose a reaction–diffusion finite element model of the lateral line primordium migration ...

Role of peptidylarginine deiminase 2 (PAD2) in mammary carcinoma cell migration

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2017
Background Penetration of the mammary gland basement membrane by cancer cells is a crucial first step in tumor invasion. Using a mouse model of ductal carcinoma in situ, we previously found that inhibition of peptidylarginine deiminase 2 (PAD2, aka PADI2)
