Trifluoperazine inhibits spreading and migration of cells in culture

Journal of Cellular Physiology, 1981
AbstractTrifluoperazine (TFP) blocks spreading and migration of cultured mammalian cells. These are calcium‐dependent and microfilament‐mediated processes. Calmodulin, a regulator of many calcium‐dependent processes in cells, is selectively inhibited by TFP.

OGDH mediates the inhibition of SIRT5 on cell proliferation and migration of gastric cancer.

Experimental Cell Research, 2019
SIRT5 has a wide range of functions in different cellular processes such as glycolysis, TCA cycle and antioxidant defense, which mediates lysine desuccinylation, deglutarylation and demalonylation.

Knockdown of PFTK1 Inhibits the Migration of Glioma Cells

Journal of Molecular Neuroscience, 2015
The prognosis of glioma patients is generally poor, so it is urgent to find out the underlying molecular mechanisms. PFTK1 is a member of cyclin-dependent kinases (Cdks) family and has been reported to contribute to tumor migration and invasion. In this study, we aimed to explore the expression and function in human glioma.

Sphingolipids inhibit vimentin-dependent cell migration

Journal of Cell Science, 2015
ABSTRACT The sphingolipids, sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P) and sphingosylphosphorylcholine (SPC), can induce or inhibit cellular migration. The intermediate filament protein vimentin is an inducer of migration and a marker for epithelial–mesenchymal transition.

PinX1 inhibits cell proliferation, migration and invasion in glioma cells

Medical Oncology, 2015
PinX1 induces apoptosis and suppresses cell proliferation in some cancer cells, and the expression of PinX1 is frequently decreased in some cancer and negatively associated with metastasis and prognosis. However, the precise roles of PinX1 in gliomas have not been studied.

Inhibition of Pigment-Cell Migration in Triturus torosus

Physiological Zoology, 1950
D URING the later embryonic and early larval stages of the urodele Triturus, melanoblasts, arising from the neural crest, migrate ventrally on the sides of the body and, as pigment forms, become visible in a definite pattern (Twitty, 1945). In Triturus torosus, as pigment formation renders the cells directly visible in the earlier larval stages, a ...

Mifepristone Inhibits the Migration of Cervical Cancer Cells by Inhibiting Exocrine Secretion

Pharmacology, 2018
Cervical cancer (CC) is one of the most common gynecological malignancies, and metastasis limits the use of surgical resection. Metapristone (MIF) was reported to suppress the proliferation and migration of several cancer cells. Exosomes play a variety of roles in cellular biological processes.

Rapamycin Inhibits Proliferation and Migration of Hepatoma Cells In Vitro

Journal of Surgical Research, 2010
Systemic immunosuppression represents the major factor for cancer recurrence after orthotopic liver transplantation for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Rapamycin is an immunosuppressant with unique antitumoral properties. Although rapamycin has been successfully used in HCC patients after liver transplantation, the detailed mechanisms of rapamycin ...

Marinobufagenin Inhibits Proliferation and Migration of Cytotrophoblast and CHO Cells

Placenta, 2008
Marinobufagenin (MBG) is an endogenous mammalian cardiotonic steroid that is involved in the inhibition of the sodium pump Na(+)/K(+)-ATPase. Increased plasma levels of MBG have been reported in patients with volume expansion-mediated hypertension and preeclampsia.
