Calcium Signaling Is Impaired in PTEN-Deficient T Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2022
PTEN (Phosphatase and TENsin homolog) is a well-known tumor suppressor involved in numerous types of cancer, including T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL). In human, loss-of-function mutations of PTEN are correlated to mature T-ALL expressing a T-

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

A computational model to predict cell traction-mediated prestretch in the mitral valve [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Prestretch is observed in many soft biological tissues, directly influencing the mechanical behavior of the tissue in question. The development of this prestretch occurs through complex growth and remodeling phenomena, which yet remain to be elucidated ...

Effect of width of microchannel device on behavior of collective cell migration

open access: yesJournal of Biomechanical Science and Engineering, 2023
Cell migration plays a crucial role in the physiological and pathological phenomena in our body such as morphogenesis, wound healing, immune response, and cancer metastasis. Cell migration can be regulated by chemical cues, although negative side effects

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

The divisive normalization model of V1 neurons: a comprehensive comparison of physiological data and model predictions

open access: yes, 2017
The physiological responses of simple and complex cells in the primary visual cortex (V1) have been studied extensively and modeled at different levels. At the functional level, the divisive normalization model (DNM; Heeger DJ.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Highlight on the problems generated by p-coumaric acid analysis in fermentations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
p-Coumaric acid is a natural hydroxycinnamic acid existing in grapes and wine. It is the precursor of the 4-ethylphenol molecule through the bioconversion reaction by Brettanomyces yeast. Chromatographic methods are the most common techniques to detect p-

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Generation of fluorescent cell-derived-matrix to study 3D cell migration

open access: yes, 2020
International audienceCell migration is involved in key phenomena in biology, ranging from development to cancer. Fibroblasts move between organs in 3D polymeric networks. So far, motile cells were mainly tracked in vitro on Petri dishes or on coverslips,
