Cellular Uptake of Active Particles

Physical Review Letters, 2020
Active particles are widely recognized to potentially revolutionize technologies in numerous biomedical applications. However, the physical origin behind cellular uptake of these particles in the nonequilibrium state remains scarcely understood. Here we combine Brownian dynamics simulation as well as theoretical analysis to provide the criterion for ...

P53 and Cellular Glucose Uptake

Endocrine Research, 2012
Tumor protein p53 is a transcription factor involved with cellular responses to stressors including limited glucose availability. We hypothesized that modulating p53 levels would affect cellular glucose uptake.Transfecting cultured primary mouse hepatocytes with p53 siRNA suppressed p53 mRNA expression >90%.

Investigations on the cellular uptake of hexadecylphosphocholine

Lipids, 1993
AbstractThe uptake of [(9,10)‐3H]hexadecylphosphocholine (HePC) in six tumor cell lines was studied. All cell lines incorporated HePC in similar amounts, with the exception of the epidermoid cancer cell line KB, which took up higher amounts of HePC. The uptake of HePC at 37°C was shown to be time and concentration dependent.

Cellular Uptake of Oligodeoxyribonucleoside Methylphosphonates

Antisense Research and Development, 1995
The cellular uptake of oligodeoxyribonucleoside methylphosphonates has been evaluated using three radiolabeled oligomers. Oligomers I and II ([3H]-T8 and [3H]-T16, respectively) are nonionic methylphosphonate oligomers labeled with tritium on the phosphonate internucleotide linkage. EDA-III contains a single phosphodiester linkage, a [32P]-label and an

Cellular Uptake of DNA Origami

2023
This chapter discusses the methods involved in achieving and analyzing cellular uptake of DNA origami. While cells naturally internalize substances from their surroundings, more than a simple addition of DNA origami in the surrounding cell medium is necessary to ensure DNA origami particles successfully enter the intracellular environment.

Insights into Cellular Uptake of Nanoparticles

Current Drug Delivery, 2015
Nanomaterials promise to improve disease diagnosis and treatment by enhancing the delivery of drugs, genes, biomolecules and imaging agents to specific subcellular targets. In order to optimize nanomaterial design for this purpose, a comprehensive understanding of how these materials are taken up and transported within the cell is required.

Understanding the cellular uptake of phosphopeptides

Cell Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1999
Phosphopeptide-cellular uptake has been studied with a unique combination of tools designed to quantitate this phenomena and to understand properties that contribute to transmembrane penetration. High-affinity src-homology domain (SH2) hexapeptides for the phosphatidyl inositol 3-kinase system were used to judge cell penetration using red blood cells ...

On the mechanism of cellular cadmium uptake

Biological Trace Element Research, 1989
Review of the available evidence on the mechanism of cellular Cd uptake in the rat jejunum supports the concept that this process consists of nonspecific binding to anionic sites on the membrane, followed by a temperature-dependent and rate-limiting internalization step.

Nanoparticles: Cellular Uptake and Cytotoxicity

2014
Understanding the interactions of nanoparticles (NPs) with cells and how these interactions influence their cellular uptake is essential to exploring the biomedical applications of NPs, particularly for drug delivery. Various factors, whether differences in physical properties of NPs or variations in cell-membrane characteristics, influence NP-cell ...

CELLULAR UPTAKE OF COPPER BY HEPATOCYTES

Nutrition Reviews, 2009
Selective accumulation of copper in isolated hepatocytes compared to fibroblasts is due in part to decreased copper efflux, perhaps the result of the presence of high-affinity intracellular copper-binding proteins. Preferential accumulation of copper by the liver may serve to protect extrahepatic tissues from copper toxicity.
