Evaluation of the Anti-melanoma Activities of Sarcophine, (+)-7α,8β-Dihydroxydeepoxysarcophine and Sarcophytolide from the Red Sea Soft Coral

open access: yesNatural Product Communications, 2014
Three natural cembranoids from the Red Sea soft coral Sarcophyton glaucum namely sarcophine ( 1 ), (+)-7α,8β-dihydroxydeepoxysarcophine ( 2 ) and sarcophytolide ( 3 ) were evaluated for their potential inhibitory effects on growth of mouse melanoma B 16 ...

Synthesis and stereochemistry of sarcophytol B: An anticancer cembranoid

open access: yesTetrahedron Letters, 1989
Abstract A short (5 step), efficient synthesis of sarcophytol B (1) from farnesal is reported using a low-temperature, titanium-induced pinacol coupling reaction of 1,14-dialdehyde5 as the key step. An X-ray structure determination showed that sarcophytol B has trans diol stereochemistry.

Cytotoxic Cembranoids from the Red Sea Soft Coral

open access: yesNatural Product Communications, 2011
One new cembrane diterpene, 2 R ,7 R ,8 R -dihydroxydeepoxysarcophine ( 1 ), together with three known compounds, 7α,8β-dihydroxy-deepoxysarcophine ( 2 ), 7β-acetoxy-8α-hydroxydeepoxysarcophine ( 3 ), and sarcophine ( 4 ), have been isolated from the Red
