Detection of Actinides in CEMP-rs Stars
The carbon-enhanced metal-poor stars with hybrid enrichments of slow and rapid neutron-capture elements, the so-called CEMP-rs stars, still raise many questions due to their elusive abundance signatures.

CEMP-s and CEMP-s/r stars: last update [PDF]
We provide an updated discussion of the sample of CEMP-s and CEMP-s/r stars collected from the literature. Observations are compared with the theoretical nucleosynthesis models of asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars presented by Bisterzo et al. (2010, 2011, 2012), in the light of the most recent spectroscopic results.

The Puzzling Frequencies of CEMP and NEMP Stars [PDF]
AbstractWe present the results of binary population simulations of carbon- and nitrogen-enhanced metal-poor (CEMP and NEMP) stars. We show that the observed paucity of very nitrogen-rich stars puts strong constraints on possible modifications of the initial mass function at low metallicity.

The Search and Study of CEMP Stars
We report on the results of the observation and study of carbon-enhanced metal-poor (CEMP) stars. Using high resolution (R ~ 40,000) spectroscopic observations taken at the Southern African Large Telescope (SALT) of over 100 metal-poor stars we measured ...

Lithium abundances in CEMP stars
Carbon-enhanced metal-poor (CEMP) stars are believed to show the chemical imprints of more massive stars (M > 0.8 Msun) that are now extinct. In particular, it is expected that the observed abundance of Li should deviate in these stars from the standard Spite lithium plateau.

An empirical metallicity tracer in CEMP and C-normal stars [PDF]
Context. Deriving the metallicity, [Fe/H], in low-resolution spectra of carbon-enhanced metal-poor (CEMP) stars is a tedious task that, owing to the large number of line blends, often leads to uncertainties on [Fe/H] exceeding 0.25 dex. The CEMP stars increase in number with decreasing [Fe/H] and some of these are known to be bona fide second ...

The Most Metal-poor Stars. V. The CEMP-no Stars in 3D and Non-LTE [PDF]
Abstract We explore the nature of carbon-rich ([C/Fe]1D,LTE > +0.7), metal-poor ([Fe/H1D,LTE] < −2.0) stars in the light of post 1D,LTE literature analyses, which provide 3D–1D and NLTE–LTE corrections for iron, and 3D–1D corrections for carbon (from the CH G-band, the only indicator at lowest [Fe/H]). High-excitation C i lines are

The Evolutionary State of CEMP Stars
AbstractThe standard scenario for the production of carbon-enhanced extremely metal-poor (CEMP) stars requires a more massive binary companion, which has evolved through the AGB stage and transferred carbon-rich material to the surface of the surviving, likewise extremely metal-poor (EMP) star.
