Advanced Materials for Biologics Delivery to Brain Tumors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Material innovation is central to unlocking the therapeutic potential of biologics against many central nervous system diseases, including brain cancer. By engineering carriers with controlled transport, targeting, and release properties, advanced materials can overcome the blood–brain barrier and tumor microenvironment, improving the delivery of ...

A U‐shaped Microfluidic Platform for Culturing Vascularized Colorectal Cancer Spheroids Reveals Tumor–Endothelial Crosstalk and Invasion‐Associated Remodeling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A closed U‐shaped microfluidic platform symmetrically embeds a single, size‐controlled HT29 colorectal cancer spheroid within a GFP‐HUVEC‐laden fibrin matrix. HT29 spheroids are associated with hyper‐branched endothelial network remodeling, while vascularized co‐culture is accompanied by anisotropic protrusive growth and EMT‐like marker changes in the ...

Evaluation of Peripheral Tissue Oxygenation in Preterm Neonates with Normal Transition [PDF]

open access: yesAin Shams Medical Journal
Background: Any birth that occurred before the full 37 weeks of pregnancy was considered preterm. Prematurity affected normal transitions which might impact tissue perfusion and oxygenation.Aim: To evaluate mixed venous oxygen saturation (ScVO2) of ...

Rab1A Promotes Hepatic Steatosis by Suppressing Mitophagy via the Raf‐1/ERK1/2/PINK1 Signaling Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Why does fat accumulate in the liver? Our study reveals Rab1A as the molecular switch that silences the cell's mitochondrial cleanup crew. Turning Rab1A off reactivates mitophagy, clears excess fat, and reverses fatty liver disease in mice—offering a promising new therapeutic target for MASLD, a growing global health challenge.

Modulation of miR‐23b Wnt/β‐catenin Axis Strengthens Endothelial Barrier Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Early blood‐brain barrier (BBB) disruption contributes to stroke and CNS disease pathology. miR‐23b was identified as a regulator of BBB integrity in brain endothelial cells. Inhibition of miR‐23b enhanced barrier‐associated properties, promoted repair‐related signaling, and reduced BBB leakage in experimental stroke models, supporting further ...

Mr BMT Achieves Systemic Macrophage Replacement With Preservation of Tissue Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Microglia replacement by bone marrow transplantation (Mr BMT) enables systemic replacement of tissue‐resident macrophages. Despite persistent macrophage and tissue remodeling across multiple organs, core biological functions and innate immune responses remain preserved, supporting long‐term maintenance of organismal homeostasis and the therapeutic ...

Role of central venous oxygen saturation in experimental sepsis

open access: yesAnales de la Facultad de Medicina, 2016
The mixed venous oxygen saturation is a key metabolic parameter to evaluate oxygen metabolism and tissue perfusion under pathologic conditions. Since mixed saturation measurements require pulmonary artery catheterization, central venous saturation ...
