Evaluation of Platelet Count, Anti-microbial Efficacy, and Fibrin Network Pattern for Advanced Platelet Rich Fibrin versus Titanium Platelet Rich Fibrin Prepared from Blood Samples of Young Adults: An Ex-vivo Study [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research
Introduction: Platelet concentrates have gained popularity in periodontal regenerative therapy owing to their autologous nature. Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) can be classified into various types based on the centrifugation protocol.

Improved extraction technique for biological fluids [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
Liquid-liquid extraction technique speeds up separation of biological fluids into number of compounds. This eliminates agitation, emulsion formation, centrifugation, mechanical separation of phases, filtration, and other steps that have been used ...

Solution-phase synthesis of pyrrole-imidazole polyamides [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Pyrrole−imidazole polyamides are DNA-binding molecules that are programmable for a large repertoire of DNA sequences. Typical syntheses of this class of heterocyclic oligomers rely on solid-phase methods. Solid-phase methodologies offer rapid assembly on

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Improvement of cryopreservation protocol in both purebred horses including Spanish horses

open access: yesSpanish Journal of Agricultural Research, 2019
There is a widely held belief that the semen of Purebred Spanish Horses (PRE) is of generally poorer quality than that of other breeds, and survives cryopreservation less well.

centrifugeR: Non-trivial balance of centrifuge rotors

open access: yes, 2022
Centrifuges are indispensable instruments in biology laboratories. For the safe operation of centrifuges, ensuring balance is a must. Loading test tubes in opposite holes and adding dummy tubes are far from the only ways to balance the centrifuge rotors.

Recycling of waste engine oils using a new washing agent [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This paper addresses recycling of waste engine oils treated using acetic acid. A recycling process was developed which eventually led to comparable results with some of the conventional methods.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
