Preparation of ZrO2-CeO2 and HfO2-CeO2 nanopowders

Inorganic Materials, 2006
We prepared weakly agglomerated powders of ZrO2-CeO2 and HfO2-CeO2 solid solutions 5–8 nm in particle size, consisting of monoclinic and tetragonal phases. After heat treatment at 1200°C, the crystallite size was 30 and 14 nm, respectively. We also examined the effect of precipitate freeze drying on the crystallization of hafnia-based solid solutions ...

Mechanical wear behavior between CeO2(100), CeO2(110), CeO2(111), and silicon studied through atomic force microscopy

Tribology International, 2021
Abstract Using atomic force microscopy and scanning electron microscopy, the mechanical removal mechanism of silicon with different exposure surfaces of cerium oxide (CeO2) is studied. It is discovered that the main type of mechanical wear between Si and CeO2 is adhesive wear.

Catalytic Removal of Soot from Diesel Engines Using CeO2, CeO2-CuO2, and CeO2-Al2O3 Nanocomposites

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2015
Nanosized CeO2-CuO2 (CeCu, 2:1) and CeO2-Al2O3 (CeAl, 2:1) were synthesized by co-precipitation from nitrate precursors using ammonia solution (NH4OH) as the precipitating agent. The catalysts were calcined in air at 500°C for 4 h to evaluate the thermal stability. The techniques including XRD and DLS were used for catalyst characterization.

Reactions of Acetaldehyde on CeO2 and CeO2-Supported Catalysts

Journal of Catalysis, 1995
Abstract The reactions of acetaldehyde were investigated on the surfaces of CeO 2 , 3 wt% Pd/CeO2, 3 wt% Co/CeO 2 , and 3 wt% Pd-3 wt% Co/CeO 2 by temperature programmed desorption (TPD) and infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The surface and bulk compositions of these catalysts were studied by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction ...

Three-Dimensional Ordered CeO2 Hollow Spheres (3DOHSs-CeO2) from Polymethylmethacrylate/CeO2 Core/Shell Microsphere Colloidal Crystals

Journal of Inorganic and Organometallic Polymers and Materials, 2015
The composite microspheres containing polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) cores and ceria (CeO2) nanoparticles shells were synthesized by in situ chemical precipitation based on electrostatic interaction. The PMMA/CeO2 colloidal crystal templates were self-assembled by a modified two-substrate vertical deposition method. After removal of the polymer cores by
