The nature of oxygen states on the surfaces of CeO2 and La-doped CeO2 [PDF]

Abstract The oxygen states on CeO 2 surfaces were investigated with DFT +  U calculations. The results reveal the variable nature of the oxygen states, including the never before modeled intrinsic peroxide surface defect. Under O-rich conditions, the peroxide defects on the (1 0 0) and (1 1 0) surfaces is more stable than oxygen vacancies.

The CeO2-TiO2 nanoparticles were prepared by a combination of hydrothermal and sol-gel preparation methods. The bond structures and crystal properties of the obtained materials were featured with X-ray diffraction, FTIR, Raman, and Bet analysis; surface morphologies were examined with the help of FESEM and STEM.

Tuning Amorphous‐Crystalline Catalytic Interfaces by Mechanochemistry: Cu‐Based Metallic Glasses Coupled with Ceria for CO Oxidation

Ball‐milling Cu‐based metallic glasses with ceria creates a unique nanostructure where metallic glass particles are wrapped by CeO2 nanoparticles. The intimate integration triggers copper state reorganization during reaction and aging, boosting CO oxidation and COPrOx activity.
