Phosphatidylcholine-Cerebrosides Interactions: Influence of Cerebroside Acyl Chain Character
Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals, 1986Abstract We have measured the swelling properties, and force decay with bilayer separation, for single phase multi-lamellar arrays made from dioleoylphosphatidylcholine, and cerebrosides with primarily non-hydroxl acyl chains. The phase characteristics and interactive forces are found to be similar to bilayers made from DOPC and cerebrosides with ...

Cerebrosides isolated from Arisaema flavum
China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica, 2016Silica gel, Sephadex LH-20, and reverse phase (C-18) column chromatography were used for the research of chemical constituents occurred in Arisaema flavum(Forsk.) Schott. The structures were elucidated by comparison physico-chemical properties and NMR spectroscopic data with those of known compounds.

New Cerebrosides from Euryale ferox
Journal of Natural Products, 1994The structure of a novel cerebroside, isolated from the rhizome with adventitious roots of Eyryale ferox (Nymphaeaceae), has been elucidated by spectroscopic methods and characterized as an isomeric mixture of N-α-hydroxyl-cis-octadecaenoyl-1-O-β-glucopyrano sylsphingosine [1] and its trans ...

Human leucocyte cerebroside sulphate sulphatase
Clinica Chimica Acta, 1979Some of the properties of the cerebroside sulphate sulphatase of human leucocyte extracts have been studied. The enzyme has an apparent KM of 2.9 mmol/l and is inhibited by the products of the reaction, sulphate and galactocerebroside. A number of divalent metal ions including manganese and magnesium stimulated the reaction only slightly at 5 mmol/l ...

Cerebrosides of Candida lipolytica yeast
Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2004Candida lipolytica yeast was grown batchwise on glucose medium. Cerebrosides were isolated from the sphingolipid fraction of total lipids using column chromatography and separated into two compounds by high-performance thin-layer chromatography. Glucose was detected as the sole sugar constituent in cerebrosides.

Psychosine prepared from bovine brain cerebroside was used for synthesis of galactosphingolipids with DL-, D-, or L-2-hydroxyhexadecanoic acids and 6-(2'-anthroyl) hexanoic acid. Psychosine was N-acetyl with p-nitrophenyl 2-acetoxyhexadecanoates in the presence of hydroxybenzotriazole to give cerebrosides. The 6-(2'-anthroyl)hexanoic acid reaction with

[Certain physical parameters of cerebroside and phospholipid-cerebroside membranes].
Biofizika, 1981Study of some electric properties of bilayer membranes made of cerebrosides and phospholipid-cerebroside mixture has shown that the capacity of cerebroside film is lower than that of lecithin-cerebroside and phospholipid-cerebroside ones (0.22 +/- 0.01 mkf/cm2 and 0.28 +/- 0.01 mkf/cm2 respectively). The membranes had small cation selectivity.

AbstractOligodendrocytes (OLs) and the myelin produced by them are enriched in two glycosphingolipids, galactosylceramide (GalC) and its sulfated form, cerebroside sulfate (CBS). We showed earlier that these two glycolipids in opposed liposomal membranes or in methanol solution can adhere to each other.

[100] Cerebroside glycosidases
1966Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the synthesis of cerebroside glycosidases. The activity of the enzyme can be determined by the liberation of glucose from glucocerebroside. This process is conveniently followed by measuring the amount of water-soluble radioactivity arising from glucose-1- 14 C-cerebroside.

Cerebrosides contain three moieties: a fatty amine, a fatty acid, and a hexose. The fatty amine is usually sphingosine, an 18-carbon straight-chain primary amine characterized by 2 hydroxyls (one of them allylic) and 1 amine group. A small amount of dihydrosphingosine occurs also.
