mGluR5 in ECCCK to BLA Circuit Modulates Depressive‐Like Phenotypes through CCK Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of mGluR5 and CCK signaling contributes to major depressive disorder, yet circuit‐level mechanisms remain unclear. Here, the ECCCK→BLA pathway is identified as a critical regulator of affective behavior. mGluR5 modulates synaptic function and CCK signaling within this circuit, controlling stress susceptibility and depressive‐like states ...

Numerical simulations of different models describing cerebrospinal fluid dynamics

open access: yes, 2019
The aim of this paper is to present an extensive overview of numerical simulations aimed at confirming and completing the theoretical results obtained in the analysis of some cerebrospinal fluid dynamics models which are treated from a purely ...

Remote Magnetomechanical Neuromodulation Uncovers Therapeutic Mechanisms for Alleviating Parkinsonian Symptoms in Freely Moving Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Magnetomechanical neuromodulation using magnetic nanodiscs enables remote activation of neurons. In a hemiparkinsonian mouse model, alternating magnetic fields actuate the nanodiscs to generate torque that opens mechanosensitive ion channels within the subthalamic nucleus, thereby modulating basal ganglia motor circuitry.

Cerebrospinal Fluid - Composition and Dynamics Across Contexts

open access: yes
Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) offers a rare vantage point into the hidden chemistry of the brain. Its composition arises from a finely tuned balance of production, circulation, and interstitial exchange, regulated by ion homeostasis, transporter activity ...

Prmt6 Deficiency or Inhibition Restores Microglial Homeostasis and Promotes Scar‐Limited Repair in Adult Spinal Cord Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
After spinal cord injury, adult microglia remain persistently activated with chronic PRMT6 (protein arginine methyltransferase 6) upregulation. Prmt6 deficiency or inhibition reestablishes microglial homeostasis and promotes a scar‐limited repairment, enhancing axonal regrowth.

Paternal Caffeine Exposure Programs Offspring Stress Vulnerability via Sperm Dlk1‐Dio3 Imprinting‐Directed Remodeling of a Novel Neural Circuit

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study elucidates that paternal preconception stress can drive offspring hyperresponsivity of the stress system via hypomethylation of a specific DNA region in sperm. This key link is confirmed in a cohort of prospective fathers: the epigenetic alteration is associated with elevated stress hormone levels.

Cholinergic basal forebrain neurons regulate vascular dynamics and cerebrospinal fluid flux

open access: yesNature Communications
Brain waste is cleared via a cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pathway, the glymphatic system, whose dysfunction may underlie many brain conditions. Previous studies show coherent vascular oscillation, measured by blood oxygenation level-dependent (BOLD) fMRI ...

Glymphatic MRI in idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus

open access: yes, 2017
The glymphatic system has in previous studies been shown as fundamental to clearance of waste metabolites from the brain interstitial space, and is proposed to be instrumental in normal ageing and brain pathology such as Alzheimer’s disease and brain ...

Wireless, Adaptable and Fully Implantable Battery‐powered Devices for Optical Stimulation of the Spinal Cord in Small Rodents

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Current technologies for spinal cord optogenetic stimulation rely on external power sources and face reliability constraints in freely behaving animals. Here, a fully implantable, battery‐powered optoelectronic device is introduced, enabling operation in any selected environment with wireless recharging for months‐long stimulation.

Cerebrospinal fluid as an environment with radioprotective properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
