Migration of Thecoperitoneal Shunt into a Hernial Sac [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2019
Thecoperitoneal shunts are commonly used to treat several conditions, but their use can result in significant complications like migration of it in hernial sac. Only few cases of scrotal migration of shunt is reported.

Entorhinal Astrocyte Transplants Restore Spatial Exploration and Alleviate Amyloid‐Beta Pathology in Alzheimer's Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Impaired MEC astrocytic Ca2+ signaling is associated with fragmented spatial exploration in AD mice. Region‐specific glial progenitor transplantation generates engrafted astrocytes that are accompanied by improved AQP4 polarization, reduced amyloid‐β‐associated pathology, attenuated neuroinflammation, preserved synaptic integrity, and ameliorated ...

14‐3‐3γ Protects Against Postoperative Cognitive Dysfunction by Regulating Tau Thr205 Phosphorylation and Synaptic Integrity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Integrative multi‐cohort analyses identify 14‐3‐3γ as a biomarker and regulator of cognitive vulnerability. Experimental studies show that 14‐3‐3γ loss is associated with Tau Thr205 phosphorylation, synaptic dysfunction, and cognitive impairment, while genetic overexpression or pharmacological stabilization of 14‐3‐3γ confers protective effects in ...

Printing‐Assisted Integration of Thermal, Fluidic and Electrical Components in Implants for Focal Brain Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Extrusion‐based 3D printing of silicones and discrete electronic components are combined to create cortical implants for rodents that integrate thermal neuromodulation and electrical recording. Linked to an autonomous auxiliary driver unit, the system enables rapid, stable and localized hypothermia alongside ECoG recording.

Cerebrospinal fluid leakage from the umbilicus

open access: yesInternational Journal of Surgery Case Reports, 2016
ABSTRACT INTRODUCTION: Shunt catheters within the peritoneal cavity have migrated through and perforated almost all the intra-abdominal hollow viscera. An umbilical cerebrospinal fluid fistula following a ventriculoperitoneal shunt is an extremely rare complication.

AI‐Designed TREM1‐Targeted LYTAC Nanoparticles Reprogram the Neuroimmune Microenvironment in Traumatic Brain Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
AI‐enabled de novo design of a TREM1 binder, integrated into a BBB‐crossing and macrophage‐targeted nanoplatform, enables TREM1 degradation and attenuates neuroinflammation, thereby promoting neuroprotection and tissue repair after traumatic brain injury. ABSTRACT Secondary neuroinflammation drives progressive damage after traumatic brain injury (TBI),

In Situ Photo‑Crosslinked Functional Bilayer Hydrogel Modulates Local Microenvironment and Remyelination After Optic Nerve Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A blue‐light‐crosslinked bilayer hydrogel was developed for local optic nerve repair. The adhesive GM‐Odex outer layer seals and anchors the lesion, while the non‐adhesive GM‐imid inner layer releases MPDA‐Cle without obstructing CSF flow. This system modulates oxidative and inflammatory microenvironments, supports oligodendrocyte differentiation and ...

Distinguishing the cerebrospinal fluid cytokine profile in neuropsychiatric systemic lupus erythematosus from other autoimmune neurological diseases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Neuropsychiatric systemic lupus erythematosus (NPSLE) is a serious complication in SLE. Although the mechanism of NPSLE remains unclear, cytokines and chemokines are considered to be involved in their pathogenesis.
