Commonalities of platelet dysfunction in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction and underlying comorbidities

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1013-1028, April 2025.
Abstract Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is characterized by a lack of a specific targeted treatment and a complex, partially unexplored pathophysiology. Common comorbidities associated with HFpEF are hypertension, atrial fibrillation, obesity and diabetes.

Studies of the Molecular Mechanism of Discrimination between cGMP and cAMP in the Allosteric Sites of the cGMP-binding cGMP-specific Phosphodiesterase (PDE5) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1999
The regulatory domain of the cGMP-binding cGMP-specific 3':5'-cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase (PDE5) contains two homologous segments of amino acid sequence that encode allosteric cyclic nucleotide-binding sites, referred to as site a and site b, which are highly selective for cGMP over cAMP.

Cardiac remodelling in the era of the recommended four pillars heart failure medical therapy

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1029-1044, April 2025.
Abstract Cardiac remodelling is a key determinant of worse cardiovascular outcome in patients with heart failure (HF) and reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). It affects both the left ventricle (LV) structure and function as well as the left atrium (LA) and the right ventricle (RV).

Cilostazol in patients with heart failure and preserved ejection fraction—The CLIP‐HFpEF trial

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1437-1446, April 2025.
• Cilostazol is an oral PDE‐3 inhibitor that may have advantageous effects in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). • Cilostazol significantly improved short‐term heart failure‐related health status scores (KCCQ‐12) and NT‐proBNP levels when compared to placebo.

Guanylate cyclase-C/cGMP: an emerging pathway in the regulation of visceral pain

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Neuroscience, 2014
Activation of guanylate cyclase-C (GC-C) expressed predominantly on intestinal epithelial cells by guanylin, uroguanylin or the closely related GC-C agonist peptide, linaclotide, stimulates generation and release of cyclic guanosine-3’,5’-monophosphate (

Donkwa Enriched With Goron‐Tula (Azanza garckeana) Modulates Sexual Behavior and Activity of Enzymes Linked With Erectile Dysfunction in High‐Fat Diets/ Streptozotocin‐Induced (STZ/HFD) Diabetic Rats

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, EarlyView.
(A) Mount number, (B) mount latency, (C) intromission number, and (D) intromission latency are the parameters of sexual behavior. Met = metformin. D100 = 100 Donkwa. D90G10 = 90% Donkwa + 10% Goron‐Tula. D85G15 = 85% Donkwa + 15% Goron‐Tula. D80G20 = 80% Donkwa + 20% Goron‐Tula. The mean ± standard error of the mean (SEM) expressed the results. *Values
