Exploring Biological Properties of Manganese(II)‐Phenanthroline‐Based Complexes: In Vitro Insights

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 11, Issue 29, 3 August 2026.
Four Mn(II) complexes with phenanthroline derivatives were studied. These compounds were tested against several parasites and different human cancer cells. Despite its cytotoxicity on breast cancer, DNA seems not to be the main biological target. These complexes can drive the design and development of new metal‐based agents with improved biological ...

Exploring the BICC1 Interactome in HEK293T Cells: Insights Into RNA‐Mediated Protein Networks and Biomolecular Condensates

open access: yesFASEB BioAdvances, Volume 8, Issue 8, August 2026.
Workflow for BICC1 interactome characterization in HEK293T cells. Cells expressing FLAG‐tagged BICC1 (full‐length or ΔSAM) were subjected to co‐immunoprecipitation under RNA‐preserved (−) or RNase‐treated (+) conditions (1). Interacting proteins were identified by LC–MS/MS (2) and analyzed through protein–protein interaction networks and functional ...

Egg‐Carrying and Cheliceral Comb in Ibaloniinae Harvestmen From the Solomon Islands (Opiliones: Podoctidae)

open access: yesAustral Entomology, Volume 65, Issue 3, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Four new species of Ibaloniinae harvestmen are described from the Solomon Islands, Melanesia. Based on the original diagnosis of Euibalonius Roewer, 1915, and description of E. maculatus (Roewer, 1915), this material appeared related to that genus. However, examination of syntype photographs of the type species E.

Identification of a Benzenesulfonylpiperazine Derivative With In Vivo Efficacy Against Visceral Leishmaniasis

open access: yesChemical Biology &Drug Design, Volume 108, Issue 2, August 2026.
This work highlights the satisfactory pharmacokinetic profile of two benzenesulfonylpiperazine lead candidates, followed by in vivo assessment in a murine model of visceral leishmaniasis. This assessment identified compound 2 as moderately active at a lower dose, but its efficacy increased at higher doses, though with concerns regarding safety.

Prevalence of Peri‐Implantitis Around Zirconia Implants: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis of Current Evidence

open access: yesClinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research, Volume 28, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Zirconia implants (ZIs) have emerged as a metal‐free alternative to titanium implants (TIs) because of their favorable esthetic and biological properties. However, the prevalence of peri‐implantitis associated with ZIs and the potential influence of implant material on peri‐implant disease remain unclear.

Multi‐angle, cross‐domain fusion strategy enhances automated insect identification and hierarchical categorization: a case study on assassin bugs (Hemiptera: Reduviidae)

open access: yesCladistics, Volume 42, Issue 4, Page 358-373, August 2026.
Abstract Automated insect identification systems hold significant value for biodiversity monitoring, pest management, citizen science initiatives and systematic studies, particularly in an era of declining expertise in insect taxonomy. However, current deep learning approaches often rely on standardized specimen photos from limited‐angles and ...

Evaluation of a Novel Peptide‐Based ELISA for the Serological Diagnosis of Trypanosoma cruzi Infection

open access: yesClinical and Translational Science, Volume 19, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Chagas disease is a neglected tropical disease endemic in most of the Americas, caused by Trypanosoma cruzi. New serological tests with improved performance are urgently needed for accurate diagnosis of T. cruzi infections. We evaluated here the performance of a novel peptide ELISA based on highly conserved parasite antigens, using a large ...
