pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Magnetic structure and phase diagram in a spin-chain system: Ca$_3$Co$_2$O$_6$
The low-temperature structure of the frustrated spin-chain compound Ca$_3$Co$_2$O$_6$ is determined by the ground state of the 2D Ising model on the triangular lattice. At high-temperatures it transforms to the honeycomb magnetic structure.

Phase diagram of a semiflexible polymer chain in a $\theta$ solvent: application to protein folding
We consider a lattice model of a semiflexible homopolymer chain in a bad solvent. Beside the temperature $T$, this model is described by (i) a curvature energy $\varepsilon_h$, representing the stiffness of the chain (ii) a nearest-neighbour attractive ...

Structural analyses of sugar chains from ricin A-chain variant.
Two glycopeptides were isolated from a tryptic digest of ricin A-chain variant by gel filtration and reversed-phase HPLC. Their amino acid compositions and sequences showed that Asn-10 and Asn-236 are glycosylated. The sugar chains were liberated from these glycopeptides by hydrazynolysis, N-acetylated, and pyridylaminated.

Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Like-Charge Colloid-Polyelectrolyte Complexation
We investigate the complexation of a highly charged sphere with a long flexible polyelectrolyte, \textit{both negatively charged} in salt free environment. Electroneutrality is insured by the presence of divalent counterions. Using molecular dynamics (MD)

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...
