Charged rosettes at high and low ionic strengths
The complexation between a semiflexible polyelectrolyte and an oppositely charged macroion leads to a multitude of structures ranging from tight complexes with the chain wrapped around the macroion to open multileafed rosette-like complexes.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Tetrahedral structure or chains for liquid water [PDF]
It has been suggested, based on x-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) experiments on liquid water [Wernet, Ph., et al. (2004) Science 304, 995–999], that a condensed-phase water molecule’s asymmetric electron density results in only two hydrogen bonds per water molecule on average.

This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Design and analysis of linear cascade DNA hybridization chain reactions using DNA hairpins
DNA self-assembly has been employed non-conventionally to construct nanoscale structures and dynamic nanoscale machines. The technique of hybridization chain reactions by triggered self-assembly has been shown to form various interesting nanoscale ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Cluster structures of excited states in $^{14}$C
Structures of excited states in $^{14}$C are investigated with a method of $\beta$-$\gamma$ constraint antisymmetrized molecular dynamics in combination with the generator coordinate method.
