A TGA/FTIR and Mass Spectral Study on the Thermal Degradation of Bisphenol A Polycarbonate [PDF]
The thermal degradation of polycarbonate under nitrogen was studied using TGA/FTIR, GC/MS and LC/MS as a function of mass loss. The gases evolved during degradation were inspected by in situ FTIR and then the evolved products were collected and analysed ...

Absence of zero-temperature transmission rate of a double-chain tight-binding model for DNA with random sequence of nucleotides in thermodynamic limit [PDF]
The zero-temperature transmission rate spectrum of a double-chain tight-binding model for real DNA is calculated. It is shown that a band of extended-like states exists only for finite chain length with strong inter-chain coupling.

Mechanical response of random heteropolymers [PDF]
We present an analytical theory for heteropolymer deformation, as exemplified experimentally by stretching of single protein molecules. Using a mean-field replica theory, we determine phase diagrams for stress-induced unfolding of typical random ...

Structures and functions of the sugar chains of glycoproteins [PDF]
Most proteins within living organisms contain sugar chains. Recent advancements in cell biology have revealed that many of these sugar chains play important roles as signals for cell‐surface recognition phenomena in multi‐cellular organisms. In order to elucidate the biological information included in the sugar chains and link them with biology, a ...

One-dimensional polyhedral chain of ThCl6 encapsulated within single-walled carbon nanotubes
Using density functional theory together with dispersion correction, we optimize geometries and calculate encapsulation energies, charge transfer, and electronic structures of a one-dimensional ThCl6 chain encapsulated within single-walled carbon ...

Reversible stretching of homopolymers and random heteropolymers
We have analyzed the equilibrium response of chain molecules to stretching. For a homogeneous sequence of monomers, the induced transition from compact globule to extended coil below the $\theta$-temperature is predicted to be sharp. For random sequences,
