Coupling–Isomerization Synthesis of Chalcones
Chemistry – A European Journal, 2006AbstractThe Sonogashira coupling of electron‐deficient (hetero)aryl halides 1 and (hetero)aryl or alkenyl 1‐propargyl alcohols 2 does not terminate at the stage of the expected internal propargyl alcohols, but rather gives rise to the formation of α,β‐unsaturated ketones 3 with a variety of acceptor substituents.

Epidemiological evidence suggests that diets rich in fruits and vegetables decrease the risk of premature mortality from major clinical conditions, including cancer and heart disease. However, it is not yet clear which components or combination of components in fruit and vegatables are protective and what is their mechanism of action is.
