Fidelity to Natural Law and Natural Rights in Constitutional Interpretation [PDF]
It is an honor and a pleasure to comment on Professor Robert P. George\u27s elegant and provocative paper.\u27 For one thing, he is a leading proponent of reviving the natural law tradition in political, legal, and constitutional theory.2 For another, he

Minimal representations and reductive dual pairs in conformal field theory
A minimal representation of a simple non-compact Lie group is obtained by ``quantizing'' the minimal nilpotent coadjoint orbit of its Lie algebra.

Ellsberg's Paradox and the value of chances [PDF]
What value should we put on our chances of obtaining a good? This paper argues that, contrary to the widely accepted theory of von Neumann and Morgenstern, the value of a chance of some good G may be a nonlinear function of the value of G. In particular,

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Chance in the Everett interpretation [PDF]
The notion of objective probability or chance, as a physical trait of the world, has proved elusive; the identification of chances with actual frequencies does not succeed.

Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Is it accidental? Unfinished argument about one eternal philosophical problem
The purpose of this article is determining the chance's role to play in the modern scientific picture of the world. The origins research of this issue go back to the antique-style: to the Democritus's picture of the world, in which there is no place for ...

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Le hasard dans la science-fiction
Chance plays a major part in many works of science-fiction. This paper tries to study the main themes to which it is connected, while focusing on some texts and relating its use to some important issues of history and philosophy of probability theory.

Competencies for Improving Construction Performance: theories and practice for developing capacity [PDF]
The focus on improving construction performance has been narrow in many nations using partnering, leanness and supply chain management. This paper asks three practical construction related questionsconcerning reinventing the wheel across projects, blame ...
