Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Detecting and estimating epidemic changes in dependent functional data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Change point detection in sequences of functional data is examined where the functional observations are dependent. Of particular interest is the case where the change point is an epidemic change (a change occurs and then the observations return to ...

Nonparametric Change-Point Estimation

open access: yesThe Annals of Statistics, 1988
Consider a sequence of independent random variables $\{X_i: 1 \leq i \leq n\}$ having cdf $F$ for $i \leq \theta n$ and cdf $G$ otherwise. A class of strongly consistent estimators for the change-point $\theta \in (0, 1)$ is proposed. The estimators require no knowledge of the functional forms or parametric families of $F$ and $G$. Furthermore, $F$ and

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Modeling Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Agriculture

open access: yesAtmosphere
This study analyzes the series of annual emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs) from agriculture in the European Union countries for 32 years. The outliers, autocorrelation, and change points were detected for each series and the Total one using the ...

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

A New Weibull–Rayleigh Distribution: Characterization, Estimation Methods, and Applications with Change Point Analysis

open access: yesAxioms
Many scholars are interested in modeling complex data in an effort to create novel probability distributions. This article proposes a novel class of distributions based on the inverse of the exponentiated Weibull hazard rate function. A particular member

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.
