We achieved cytoplasmic delivery of non‐cell‐penetrating IgGs by grafting a single functional complementarity‐determining region 1 (CDR1) from the light chain variable region (VL) of the cell‐internalizable 3D8 antibody. The engineered IgG acquired cell‐penetrating ability while maintaining antigen affinity, highlighting CDR1 grafting as a promising ...

Character sheaves on disconnected groups, VIII [PDF]
In this paper we continue the study of character sheaves on a reductive group G. To each subset of the set of simple reflections in the Weyl group we associate an algebra of the same kind as an Iwahori-Hecke algebra with unequal parameters in terms of parabolic character sheaves. We also prove a Mackey type formula for character sheaves.

Closed surfaces and character varieties
The powerful character variety techniques of Culler and Shalen can be used to find essential surfaces in knot manifolds. We show that module structures on the coordinate ring of the character variety can be used to identify detected boundary slopes as ...

Ion channel function of polycystin‐2/polycystin‐1 heteromer revealed by structure‐guided mutagenesis
Mutations in polycystin‐1 (PC1) or polycystin‐2 (PC2) cause autosomal‐dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD). We generated a novel gain‐of‐function PC2/PC1 heteromeric ion channel by mutating pore‐blocking residues. Moreover, we demonstrated that PC2 will preferentially assemble with PC1 to form heteromeric complexes when PC1 is co‐expressed ...

The Imprimitive Faithful Complex Characters of the Schur Covers of the Symmetric and Alternating Groups [PDF]
Using combinatorics and character theory, we determine the imprimitive faithful complex characters, i.e., the irreducible faithful complex characters which are induced from proper subgroups, of the Schur covers of the symmetric and alternating groups. Furthermore, for every imprimitive character we establish all its minimal block stabilizers.

Decoding the dual role of autophagy in cancer through transcriptional and epigenetic regulation
Transcriptional and epigenetic regulation controls autophagy, which exerts context‐dependent effects on cancer: Autophagy suppresses tumorigenesis by maintaining cellular homeostasis or promotes tumor progression by supporting survival under stress. In this “In a Nutshell” article, we explore the intricate mechanisms of the dual function of autophagy ...

The Evolution of Popularity and Images of Characters in Marvel Cinematic Universe Fanfictions [PDF]
This analysis proposes a new topic model to study the yearly trends in Marvel Cinematic Universe fanfictions on three levels: character popularity, character images/topics, and vocabulary pattern of topics. It is found that character appearances in fanfictions have become more diverse over the years thanks to constant introduction of new characters in ...

Autophagy in cancer and protein conformational disorders
Autophagy plays a crucial role in numerous biological processes, including protein and organelle quality control, development, immunity, and metabolism. Hence, dysregulation or mutations in autophagy‐related genes have been implicated in a wide range of human diseases.

Large character sums: Pretentious characters and the Polya-Vinogradov Theorem [PDF]
In 1918 Polya and Vinogradov gave an upper bound for the maximal size of character sums which still remains the best known general estimate. One of the main results of this paper provides a substantial improvement of the Polya-Vinogradov bound for characters of odd, bounded order.
