The influence of resonant charge exchange for ion-atom interaction on the viscosity of partially ionized plasma embedded in the magnetic field is investigated. The general system of equations used to derive the viscosity coefficients for an arbitrary plasma component in the 21-moment approximation of Grad’s method is presented.

Abstract : Chemical reactions between ions and electrons of a translating, high velocity field reversed plasmoid, including charge exchange and electron impact ionization, are examined in an adiabatic heat bath relaxation. Importance of different reaction mechanisms is analyzed for conditions typical for FRC thrusters, with gas and plasma densities on ...

Plasma Physics and Controlled Fusion
Abstract Electron impact multiple ionization (EIMI) and charge exchange (CX) are two atomic processes that are often neglected in investigations of charge state distributions (CSDs). However, previous investigations have demonstrated that EIMI has a non-negligible effect on the dynamic equilibrium of iron ions ...

Ionization channel in non-perturbative ion-atom collisions dominated by charge exchange
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2001The development of the described method has been motivated by studies of the proton-atomic oxygen collision system, where the accidental closeness of energy levels makes the charge exchange quasi-resonant. In slow collisions the ionization channel must compete with the resonant exchange channel.

A scheme for a polarized 3He ion source with a resonant charge-exchange plasma ionizer
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 1998Abstract A scheme for a polarized 3He2+ ion source based on resonant charge-exchange between polarized 3He atoms and unpolarized 4He2+ ions is proposed. Polarized atoms in this scheme are produced by optical pumping with metastability exchange. The polarized atoms are stored then in a storage cell.
