XXXIII. Ionization and charge exchange by fast ions of hydrogen and helium

The London, Edinburgh, and Dublin Philosophical Magazine and Journal of Science, 1949
Abstract An account is given of experiments involving collisions of H+, H+ 2. and He+ ions with hydrogen and helium in the energy range 3–35 KeV. The construction of apparatus for producing suitable beams of ions is described and details presented of an accurate method for measuring charge exchange and ionization cross-sections.

Analytical approximations to the rate coefficients for charge exchange and ionization of neutral beams

Nuclear Fusion, 1979
Analytic expressions are used to approximate the cross-section data for charge exchange between hydrogen isotopes and between a neutral hydrogen isotope and a helium isotope ion, and for ionization of hydrogen isotope neutrals by positive ions and by electrons.

Ionization, charge exchange, and excitation during collisions of sodium ions with argon

Technical Physics, 2007
The absolute values of cross sections of ionization, charge exchange, and excitation during Na+-Ar collisions are measured in the ion energy range 0.5–10.0 keV. Experiments are performed by a modified method of transverse electric field and by the optical spectrometry method.

Analysis of isomeric polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons by charge-exchange chemical ionization mass spectrometry

Analytical Chemistry, 1984
Charge-exchange chemical ionization mass spectrometry (using a 15% mixture of methane in argon) yields abundant M/sup +/, M + H/sup +/, M + C/sub 2/H/sub 5//sup +/ ions of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH). On the basis of the relative intensities of the M + H/sup +/ ion to the M/sup +/ ion, this technique can differentiate, in a predictable ...

Remarks on stability in charge exchange dynamics in a monoatomic ionized gas

Transport Theory and Statistical Physics, 1988
Abstract We prove existence and uniqueness of a couple of nonnegative distributions for an evolution problem modelling the interactions of ions and neutral atoms with charge exchange. Some remarks on asymptotic behaviour are added.

Carbon disulfide charge exchange as a low-energy ionization technique for hydrocarbon characterization

Analytical Chemistry, 1993
CS 2 .+ ions formed under low-energy electron ionization conditions readily undergo charge-exchange reactions with hydrocarbons having ionization potential less than 9.5 eV. CS 2 charge exchange (CS 2 /CE) has many advantages over low-voltage electron-impact ionization (LV/EI) in the characterization of hydrocarbons.

Continuous-wave laser oscillation in singly ionized arsenic (charge exchange reactions)

Journal of Physics B: Atomic and Molecular Physics, 1973
CW laser oscillation has been observed on eight transitions of singly ionized arsenic in a He-As mixture using a 3 mm bore, multiple anode-hollow cathode laser tube of metal construction. The dependence of laser intensity on helium pressure, arsenic partial pressure and discharge current has been studied.

Cross Sections for Charge Exchange and Ionization of High-Energy Ions in Noble Gases

Fusion Science and Technology, 2007
Interactions of charge exchange and ionization of fast, low-charged heavy ions are very important in heavy ion beam inertial confinement fusion. These effects are crucial in determination of the final focusing in the chamber. However, corresponding cross section data is very limited and/or not accurate over the entire range of energies and ions of ...

Theory of Charge Exchange and Ionization in Ion-Atom (Ion) Collisions

1986
The present review will deal with the theoretical methods for study of single electron transfer and ionization processes in ion-atom and ion-ion collisions, $$ A + {B^{{{q^{ + }}}}} \to {A^{ + }} + {B^{{\left( {q - 1} \right) + }}}\quad ,\quad q \geqslant 1 $$ (1.1a) $$ \to {A^{ + }} + {B^{{\left( {q^{ + }} + e \right)}}} ]$$ (1.1b)

Dāˆ’ Charge Exchange Ionizer for the JINR Polarized Ion Source POLARIS

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2003
The spin physics program is an important part of the LHE JINR scientific program. An intensive study of polarization phenomena was carried out at the Dubna 4.5 Gev/nucl. synchrophasotron, using cryogenic source of polarized deuterons (↑D+) POLARIS. There is a proposal to make a polarized deuteron beam in the new accelerator Nuclotron to continue the ...
