Oxygen ion production rates above the ionopauses of Venus and Mars are calculated for photoionization, charge exchange, and solar wind electron impact ionization processes. The latter two require the use of the Spreiter and Stahara (1980) gas dynamic model to estimate magnetosheath velocities, densities, and temperatures.

Cross sections of charge exchange and ionization in O8+ +H collision in Debye plasmas
Physics of Plasmas, 2012Charge exchange and ionization processes in O8+ +H collision system in a Debye plasma are studied using the classical trajectory Monte Carlo (CTMC) method in the collision energy ranging from 1 keV/amu to 500 keV/amu. Total charge exchange and ionization cross sections have been determined in both screening and unscreening environments.

Charge Exchange Reaction in Dopant-Assisted Atmospheric Pressure Chemical Ionization and Atmospheric Pressure Photoionization [PDF]
The efficiencies of charge exchange reaction in dopant-assisted atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (DA-APCI) and dopant-assisted atmospheric pressure photoionization (DA-APPI) mass spectrometry (MS) were compared by flow injection analysis ...

Charge exchange ionization in collision cells as a method to detect the presence of long-lived excited electronic states of polyatomic ions [PDF]
Charge exchange ionization in collision cells installed in a double focusing mass spectrometer with reversed geometry has been used to detect the presence of a long-lived excited electronic state of benzene ion.

Charge exchange and ionization cross sections of H+ + H collision in dense quantum plasmas [PDF]
The plasma screening effects of dense quantum plasmas on H+ + H charge exchange and ionization cross sections are calculated by the classical trajectory Monte Carlo method. For charge exchange cross sections, it is found that the screening effects reduce

Comparison of dopants for charge exchange ionization of nonpolar polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons with reversed-phase LC-APPI-MS [PDF]
Atmospheric pressure photoionization (APPI) is capable of ionizing nonpolar compounds in LC/MS, through charge exchange reactions following photoionization of a dopant. Recently, several novel dopants—chlorobenzene, bromobenzene, 2,4-difluoroanisole, and

A new type of ionizer for charge-exchange particle analyzer
Review of Scientific Instruments, 2018The application of effective methods of charge-exchange neutral particle diagnostics to determine ion temperatures of plasmas in modern plasma installations is of great practical interest. In this paper, we propose a new type of ionizer based on ionization of neutral charge-exchange particles reflecting from metallic surfaces.

Charge exchange, excitation, and ionization via hidden avoided crossings
Physical Review A, 1990General principles of the asymptotic theory of adiabatically slow atomic collisions are reviewed. Special emphasis is placed on analytic properties of adiabatic potential energy curves for complex values of internuclear separation. The significance of the complex branch points and hidden avoided crossings for the dynamics of one-electron collisional ...

Simulation of the relative atomic populations of elements 1 ≤ Z ≤89 following charge exchange tested with collinear resonance ionization spectroscopy of indium [PDF]
Calculations of the neutralisation cross-section and relative population of atomic states were performed for ions beams (1 ≤ Z ≤ 89) at 5 and 40 keV incident on free sodium and potassium atoms.
