Asymptotic symmetries of three dimensional gravity and the membrane paradigm

open access: yes, 2018
The asymptotic symmetry group of three-dimensional (anti) de Sitter space is the two dimensional conformal group with central charge $c=3\ell/2G$. Usually the asymptotic charge algebra is derived using the symplectic structure of the bulk Einstein ...

PARP inhibitors induce a senescence phenotype in non‐small cell lung carcinoma cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Talazoparib is the most potent inducer of senescence among different PARP1 inhibitors in human NSCLC cells. In the absence of PARP, no senescence phenotype was observed, demonstrating that PARP1 is necessary for the induction of senescence by this inhibitor.

Research on Optimal Charge Structure Selection and Active Control Methods for Subgrade Bench Blasting Based on Multi‐Objective Optimization

open access: yesEnergy Science & Engineering
To reduce the peak vibration velocity (PPV) of subgrade bench blasting vibration, the control variable method was used to analyze the blasting effect of different charging methods.

Inherently Global Nature of Topological Charge Fluctuations in QCD

open access: yes, 2005
We have recently presented evidence that in configurations dominating the regularized pure-glue QCD path integral, the topological charge density constructed from overlap Dirac operator organizes into an ordered space-time structure.

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

Charge and orbital order in Fe_3O_4

open access: yes, 2004
Charge and orbital ordering in the low-temperature monoclinic structure of magnetite (Fe_3O_4) is investigated using LSDA+U. While the difference between t_{2g} minority occupancies of Fe^{2+}_B and Fe^{3+}_B cations is large and gives direct evidence ...

Epilepsy‐Associated Variants of a Single SCN1A Codon Exhibit Divergent Functional Properties

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Pathogenic variants in SCN1A, which encodes the voltage‐gated sodium channel NaV1.1, are associated with multiple epilepsy syndromes exhibiting a range of clinical severity. SCN1A variants are reported in different syndromes, including Dravet syndrome, which is associated with loss‐of‐function, whereas neonatal/infantile‐onset ...

Charge transfer-tuned magnetism in Nd-substituted Gd5Si4

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2018
We report a charge-transfer mechanism in tuning of magnetism of Nd-substituted Gd5-xNdxSi4 (x=1 and 2.5) compounds. The X-ray absorption near edge structure measurements demonstrated that Nd substitutions for Gd induce charge transfer of 5d electrons ...

Degenerately Doped Transition Metal Dichalcogenides as Ohmic Homojunction Contacts to Transition Metal Dichalcogenide Semiconductors

open access: yes, 2019
In search of an improved strategy to form low resistance contacts to MoS2 and related semiconducting transition metal dichalcogenides, we use ab initio density functional electronic structure calculations in order to determine the equilibrium geometry ...

A Systematic Comparison of Alpha‐Synuclein Seed Amplification Assays for Increasing Reproducibility

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Seed amplification assays (SAAs) enable ultrasensitive detection of misfolded α‐synuclein across biofluids and tissues. Yet, heterogeneity in protocols limits cross‐study comparability and clinical translation. Here, we review α‐synuclein SAA methods and their performance across various biological matrices.
