Enhanced mechanical property through high-yield fabrication process with double laser scanning method in two-photon lithography

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2023
Two-photon lithography (TPL) is a representative fabrication process for micro 3D structures with a sub-micron fabrication resolution. As the TPL process is developed and commercialized, the TPL process requires higher process yield to be a considered ...

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

On properties of local additive estimation based on the smooth backfitting estimator. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We study properties of local additive estimation based on the smooth backfitting estimator by Mammen, Linton and Nielsen (1999). The local additive estimator defined as a restricted additive estimator and thus inherits locally properties of additive ...

Chlorophyllin Inhibits Mammalian Thioredoxin Reductase 1 and Triggers Cancer Cell Death

open access: yesAntioxidants, 2021
Food colorants are widely used by humans in food production and preparation; however, their potential toxicity requires an in-depth analysis. In this study, five out of 15 commercial food colorants, namely, lutein, betanin, caramel, crocin and ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

The feasibility of using electrostatic charge condition monitoring for lubricant additive screening

open access: yes, 2008
International standards require lubricant formulators to develop additive packages that increase fuel economy, reduce environmental impact and minimise wear over ever increasing service intervals.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
