Composition and thickness of surface layer on molybdenum tips for scanning tunnelling microscopy (STM) studied by SEM/AES/(AR)XPS [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
A combination of SEM, AES and angle-resolved XPS (ARXPS) has been applied to analyse the distribution of chemical compounds in the surface region of electrochemically etched molybdenum tips and to determine the contamination layer thickness.

Improving PARP inhibitor efficacy in bladder cancer without genetic BRCAness by combination with PLX51107

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

Availability and information needs in the chemical contaminants domain – PortFIR assessment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Chemical contaminants (Chc) can be naturally present and/or be introduced in food and feed as result of the various stages of its production, processing and transport and/or due to environmental contamination.

Sensors for Chemical Contaminants in Water

open access: yesThe Boolean: Snapshots of Doctoral Research at University College Cork, 2022
Long-term exposure to chemical contaminants in our drinking water can have adverse effects on human health. Such exposure has been linked to cancers, neurological diseases, and cardiovascular diseases. Examples of chemical contaminants found in our water systems include nitrates, heavy metals such as lead, and disinfectant by-products.

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed: the semicarbazide notifications

open access: yesVeterinární Medicína, 2009
The recently instituted and easily accessible Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) has been tested on the semicarbazid (SEM), the residue of veterinary antibiotic nitrofurazone, using the RASFF Database Portal launched in July 2009 by the ...

Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...

Study of payload sensor contamination [PDF]

open access: yes
Epoxy/glass test specimens representing Scout fourth and fifth stage motor casings were prepared and studied in a test program designed to determine the relative contamination contributed to payload sensors located near the motor casings.

Solidification/stabilisation of soil contaminated with metal: a review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Solidification/stabilisation (S/S) is generically defined as a chemical and physical alteration technique of reducing the mobility as well as solubility of contaminants in wastes in order to convert them into chemically inert form.
